ROTJ Scratch Built Blaster

A few weeks ago I started a blaster but I didn't have a camera till now.
This is the first time I've ever tackled a project like this but I'm having the
time of my life. I'm an Industrial Design Student at Humber College in
Toronto, Ontario, so I have a whole work shop at my disposal.

So far i've only used...

- MDF (1/8", 1/4" and 1/2")
- Renboard ( I think... i found it in the scrap bin)
- Wood Glue
- Band Saw
- Drill Press
- Various Sanders ( Belt, Disc etc...)
- Webley Templates

For the stock, I laminated several thick pieces of MDF together, cut the
shape on the band saw and just started filing away at the wood. I've got
the general shape for most parts now. Only another sitting and it should
be finished.

The bracket and gun handle where also laminated MDF cut to shape.

Tonight I started the part that resembles a revolver on the Webley.
I used a piece of scrap renboard, lay-ed out the design using tracing
paper and templates and began to crave it out. If you haven't worked
with this before, it models like a dream. I used the band saw to cut the
shape, sanders to get the radius and square shapes, a drill press for
where the piece mounts to the handle and then a Milling Machine for the
slot through the middle.

It's not finished but im fairly happy with the way it came out. The material
has a Machined look to it. You can get great detail with the renboard.

...I work on this every day... so there will be updates soon.

how's it lookin?

the stock has some good weight to it but I like that...
it makes it feel like it's real.

I plan on turning the nozzel out of some type of metal as well.

"thank you Boba Swede"

I'm trying to use a milling machine but I need a detailed view of this part.
can anyone help me out?

Hey everyone... so school had the best of me this week but I've solved some problems I've been having with various parts.

- I figured out how to simplify the hammer insert and it will be installed soon.
- I found material for my barrel; I'm gonan use a 2" tail pipe with ABS pipe overtop for
the collars and then i'll turn the nozzle on a lathe

Now I just either need to find a cheap scope... or I'll make that too.

pictures soon

Hey again.

I tackled a bunch of stuff tonight...
if you haven't already, check out my scratch helmet in progress.

So i finally worked out the hammer connection insert ( i don't know what to call it). It's not perfect yet... but nothing a little sand paper wont fix.

Nice,
But I'd swap out the 'horseshoe" Bracket to a metal one... that will snap for sure.

Have you thought of plywood for that section?

wow!

i want a milling machine! that and a lathe are the 2 missing bits in my workshop.

but first things first... a new roof on the workshop so it doesn't rain in there, new doors so you can't get in with a good kick, THEN more tools!
