ROTJ Jetpack...

Fett 4 Real

Sr Hunter
Did a little searching and found a few things...the AOSW jetpack is the first one...and the seconds in pics from Misc pics labeled AOSW but it CANT be the AOSW JP with the vent on the main body being vertical not parallel any info? Slave1 pilot probably knows or Art

Well, the first is AOSW. You can tell by the plug in jack at the bottom. Don't know when the second one was photographed, but it's not the same pack, obviously.

Ah, so the port jack thing was added during filming, therefore the second pic is before it was added?

F4R, I can't see the vents clearly, but I've seen them going both ways. For what it's worth, Man of War has a circular vent that fits in as a seperate piece so you can position it in either direction. Your choice.

I haven't really studied the vent on the AOSW speicifically, but perhaps the vent piece was also seperate or screw in or whatever. I'll give the ref pics a look.

No the second pic is not the same pack...notice the vents are sideways in the pics of the actual one used the other was a different pack with the same damage

The fact that the pic with the tape measure shows symbols on the lower end like a prepro pack is strange. And here is a prepro pack, which looks like the vents are a seperate piece

And here's the MOM pack

And check out that nest of wires above the vent.

It's always been a mystery to me about the reason why the slots go different directions.

LMAO yeh...the prepro pack is different in the way that the damage is painted on though its closer to MOM pack in that respect this pack looks the same paintwise just a different pack maybe the hero pack when they werent on the barge?

yeh my BFUK pack has the vertical vents which is why Im trying to work this out a little, debating on if i want that hole and button on the bottom or not basically lol...guess theyre both correct?!?!?!

The vent section must be removable.

See here in the MOM pic, the slots are Vertical on this pack
But you can see that the circular round portion is a separate piece than the pack and the detailing is different than the AOSW pack.

and it's the same pack that is in the "Star Wars the Exhibition"
SWTE_2008-08-07_52.jpg

Which is the same style as this PP1 pack, but a totally different pack
PP1+13.jpg

as you can see in this AOSW pic, the vent portion has been replaced with a non-matching section. It appears to be glued over the original hole

and also this pic from CIV

The AOSW, CIV, and ROTJ SE Promo pics use the same pack
Which is also The Heilman Pics Jetpack. you mentioned above.
The weathering scratches are exactly the same.. Not just really close, but EXACTLY THE SAME.
here's a comparison of the Heilman (left) and the AOSW,CIV, ROTJ SE Promo (right)

Regarding the symbols on the packs, You can see them faintly in the comparison shot above.
I added the fullsize pic below (just keep clicking it)

Wow, I never saw that last pic from CIV before. You can see the saddle bags are stitched onto the girth belt with red thread. Interesting.

Someone was selling metal insert pieces of the vents on Ebay at one time, FYI. Maybe Evolution?

Look, the AoSW was on tour around 1980 with the RotJ helmet and also the Sandy armour (picture #2). While on tour it had diferent aluminium parts on the thrusters (painted red) and also the correct vents of the jetpack cast. While filming it was modified because it was used as a SFX jetpack so the cut the vents (you can see the hole in pic #1) and added some little things all around the jetpack.

SO we're going with when it was modded it got the vent replaced with a sideways vent...and its been weathered a little more by the guys mishandling it...roger thanks S1P....figured u would have a solution...they also added those funny plastic strips to the sides

Man, this thread just makes me wish the jetpack was correctly replicated. Several have been close, but nothing has been 100%. Same with the boots. Some very close attempts, but nothing has come close enough to satisfy me.

As far as what I have for a jetpack right now, I have a modified hybrid pack ;)

Yeh Im trying to get close to screen as possible, but thats what im trying to work out was the hole there or not? and were the plstic strips there i didnt see them so i dunno

And what do u have as far as JP right now slaveI ? Ive been looking at my missile and its for sure to thin around the center...I like BFUKs JP body its pretty close to the pics from what i can tell thrusters are a little off as is the missile

Like I said, mine is a hybrid of different ones, with main body being a MOW, but so many things changed out and modified, it's hardly that anymore.

A very good pack for the money, though, and arrived superfast, and a super clean casting.

The last MB pack would have been good if it had been sized up maybe 15%. Everything looked right as I remember (it's been a while since I saw one), but it was just too small for my taste.

None that I've seen have had the correct concave angled structure on the inner wall. I thought about resulpting mine, but that's a lot of work for something you'd see very little of. Maybe on version #4 :)

Have the link to a good pic of the inner wall of the BFUK? I don't remember ever seeing one that got that right.

The thing most makers are really off on is that ribbed ring that sits atop the central cylinder.
