    Oct 13, 2014, 3:50 PM - ROTJ gauntlet flamethrower advice needed #1

Hey guys, I'm making an ROTJ flamethrower master that's going to be molded to cast a hollow fiberglass copy. I know I'm limited in my knowledge of details on this piece. So I wanted to see of you guys could make some suggestions to improve it before molding. I'm planning to mold it in the two separate pieces as shown unless someone tells me I'm headed in the wrong direction.
    Thanks,
    Cruzer

From what I've read, I think there is a lip near the edge of the flamethrower. Here is a link to Rafal's awesome fact files: Post #49

The bottom cover should be one solid piece, not split into two. Also, as stated above, there's a little beveled edge at the front of that same bottom piece as well.
The very front edge of the flamethrower has that outer lip (not sure if that's SE only or not though, someone else more knowledgeable will hopefully chime in) as seen in RF's post.
Also, on that upper front edge housing (where the nozzles stick out) you have walls fairly thick (maybe 1/4"?). I'm guessing you might have it that way for the fiberglassing process, but just so you know it's pretty thin cause I think they used galvanized metal to make that part.
Hope that makes sense and hope that helps! Other than that, it's looking good

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I'll check on that beveled edge, as well as the lip as an attachment. I'm using 1/8" styrene. I also will try to get my hands on a set of jodokast's emitters for sizing & fitment. The emitter cap is meant to be glued on and filled to resemble a solid piece and base, so hopefully it's successful. I know it's not going to be super accurate because of the fact it will be cast in cc and fiberglass, but it's going to be used by a member who is converting a set of my Jango gauntlets...so I'm just trying to get as close as possible that works with the casting process. I really do appreciate the insider's advice, so thanks.

I actually did make a set of ROTJ gauntlet shell masters once, but never received the molds or masters back from the person I gave them to for molding. I guess I can try asking about them again and see what happens.

Finally made the first hollow fiberglass cast. The cc layer came out crappy because I rushed it, but it's going to see paint so I'm not worried about it. It weighs in at 8.1 oz with the cap.
