a Real Webley?

yes i know this has been asked before but i need input because im seriously looking to purchase. anyone know what a real working webley goes for these days? based on condition
ive found out through research that the chromed one that i was going to buy initially i could indeed have owned and im pretty pissed that my buddy that i was going to have it transfered by told me i couldnt have a webley in this state and screwed me out of the deal.

im looking at one right now and its a little beat up IMO. the gun, if i buy it will have to definitely be professionally re blued as its showing browning and the silver raw steal is starting to show through, and it has a couple of small scratches on the right side of the receiver/barrel. i don't know how deep these scratches are but they sure show the silver of the steal. the place feels the guns in great condition and wants $1400 for it. the most im willing to give them is $900 to 1000. i mean this is alot of cash im throwing around here. damn near what i payed for my 52 H&R Garand
if they don't accept my offer than im not sure what im going to do for a webley as they are a PITA to find.
are there cheaper/easier ways to get a actual webley than this? the 1400 i mean? i really want a real webley for my collection:p

i saw the one for 1400. and the chrome one you looked at/purchased before was relisted and sold for $1325 last night. so to answer your question, it seems they are going for $1400

yeah, why not. you're much better off with that one instead the chrome piece. i also wouldn't be worried about a few nicks and discoloration, heck it's a bounty hunters weapon... you get some marks in fight...

I heard of a chrome one going for $600 recently. I don't know the condition though. For the last couple of years they have been around $1000. The chromed ones are more abundant here in the states and go for a little less. The UK has the blued ones usually.

I paid $1200 for mine in 2001. Mine is in excellent shape with blueing, clean stock, it still has the lanyard rings/swivels in tact. Mine also came with a replica MPP tube (larbel) and original split plugs for the stock. A guy from the RPF living in the UK had it and gave up on doing the build up.

On shipment to the US it was held up in customs in Chicago - this was around the time of 9/11. Customs never contacted me or the seller and were going to destroy it. Fortunately I got ahold of someone and they released it to me. Thank god it had with it the deactivation paperwork along with info regarding the obsolete munitions so i was able to get it cleared as an antique.

Good luck with the hunt.

It's funny - that chrome one was relisted about 4 times before it actually sold. I think whoever bought it could have had it cheaper had they spotted it earlier. The previous auctions had very few bids. They just never met the reserve.

the reseve was not met only the first time around. the first time with a reserve it only fetched 800, reserve not met. a few times it did not sell at all. then it was sold for $600, relisted, sold for $555, relisted, and now sold for $1325, but I have a feeling it might get relisted again. cause the high bidder now, only placed a bid of $550 when it sold for $555 and din't even bother to bid a dollar more. now he i s willing to spend $1325????

now i say thats alot of cash for a chromed gun

so i haven't really followed all that closely, but the chromed ones are usually cheaper, right?

there's this sick, sick part of me that wants to use a REAL webley base in my RotJ blaster. mostly because i want a working trigger :)

but since the whole thing is painted, the chromeness wouldn't be a problem.

sorry to hear you missed out on the correct one. i paid for mine today, being in a different part of the world, law requires it to get it deactivated. so hopefully only a few more days...

gunbroker.com so is it just google searches? how do ya find a webley

Ive droped that name here a few times. gunbroker.com has some nice stuff, if you want to pay an arm and a leg. It's gun ebay, most of the time you can get it cheaper at a gun show or shop if you know what your looking for. BUT, they do have some nice stuff on there if you cant find it any place else. Ive sold and bought some stuff on there.
