    Nov 1, 2013, 9:43 PM - Question about CAD armor templates #1

I know that this question has probably been asked many, many times, but I am not having much luck searching the forums.

I am going to try and make all-aluminum armor, as well as try and do an aluminum helm. I saw the GIF templates that Wizard posted, but was wondering if the original CAD templates were still available.

Thanks for any insight, and cannot wait to join this fantastic community!

Most of us don't use CAD in general so making the effort to make those files available probably wan't a priority for WOF. He still stops by the boards, you should send him a personal message and politely ask if he would be willing to share his work with you in that format. Good luck with your build.

Just my .02 as well, many come through the boards with the idea to build a metal helmet and few have succeeded. Cold casting can give you a great finish without the hassle of building from metal. Good luck in whatever you choose though!

Have to agree with the above reply. If you have the time and resources I guess why not. But with the helmet being about 50 percent of the overall effect, there are several FG ones to choose from, and you can go with a coldcast which looks just like metal when polished. The resin contains aluminum powder so it behaves like metal as far as looks go.

Thanks for all of the responses. I actually have talked with WoF and he has supplied me with the .dwg files for the armor. I think that I will most likely go with a cold cast helmet, and maybe do the stalk and ears in aluminum. I really wasn't looking forward to making a lid out of Al anyways!

Once again, thanks for the responses!

Agree with that, but if you have the files the ears shouldn't be bad too fab, and you want to have it set up for a movable stalk also. If you have the skills, would be cool to fab other small parts as well if you are doing the entire costume. Knee launchers, gauntlet darts, toe spikes....lots to do if you can make them. You making a jango or boba?

That is definitely the plan as of now. Anything that can be reasonably made out of brass or aluminum, will be made out of brass or aluminum. Definitely going with a servo-driven stalk, and am thinking about a couple other ideas (voice modulator, possible voice-activated movements).

I am still kind of torn between either JF or BF. I really want to make my son a costume as well, and go the Dad is Jango, son is Boba route, but I just love the Boba armor so much...
