Question about belt placement from the Jetpack

Ok...i was wondering how most of us run the nylon belt from our jetpacks. This is assuming we are not using the screen accurate harness that booboo makes.

I have 2 ABS "belt loops" screwed to the lower back part of my pack that i run the nylon belt through with the divers buckle. It works fine, but the problem i run into is the belt kind of smashes/wrinkles the vest on the sides as it wants to go over the vest, but it should be under it. Anyone have any suggestions to remedy this?

The only thing i thought of was cutting and sewing 2 "slots" in the appropriate areas of the back of the vest so it can go through and under the vest. Id like to do something better if anyone has any ideas they can throw at me. Is there supposed to be a lower hook, or hooks, that go through the vest similar to the top ones? Maybe i can add something to the Fettdad harness im using to mimic the metal harness by attaching the lower belt/w divers buckle to the harness? I dunno, any thought would be sweet. Thanks everyone.

Talk to FettDad. He had mentioned to me about some sort of fix he was working on, but I can't remember exactly what it was (old age). As for using the belt and cutting slits in the vest... the problem is that the belt and lower part of the JP are at different levels on your body. The front of the belt should be visible under your vest. I suppose you could wear the belt loose enough that it will show, but it my sit weird against you body in front.

At work right now, but will take a pic of my jetpack / belt solution tonight and post. basically, I attached the belt to the jetpack using chicago bolts. I did this so they would sit in-between where my back armor dips up at the bottom in the small of my back. then the belt is under the back armor but still on top of the flack vest. Sorry if this may sound confusing. I only attached the belt to the jetpack in the bottom middle, maybe 6inches wide (as to fit in the lower back armor dip or curve. Hope this helps

Hey SCIENCE, yea this is pretty much what i have going on. I actually had it exactly like that, but then added the ABS "belt loops" instead of the screws so i can adjust the "left - right" positioning of the belt cuz sometimes it wouldnt be centered cuz i would have to "let it out" a bit cuz gained a few pounds lol. The probelm is the belt wants to be over, or maybe i should say, on top of the vest, when it should be underneath it, meaning between your flightsuit and the vest. The belt and buckle should only peek out a little from under your vest in the front. At least thats how i feel about it lol.

Thanks Booboo..i will talk to Fettdad(y)

Do you have the cut out in the vest? Similar shape to the back armour? That may help.

The belt attached to the pack option sounds like it could work, as far as helping to hold the pack in at the bottom. If you put it on a long enough length of belt the buckle can be centered as desired, it just slides about.

Yea thats what i have now....BUT the vest isnt cut at all on the bottom, just straight across. That is a good thought though Bobby! Definitely something to consider.

Im not explaining my problem clearly. The problem is not securing the JP with the belt. It is the belt is wrinkling up the vest on my sides. The Booboo fett metal harness has the upper hooks and the lower belt in one unit under the vest. This allows all the strapping to remain under the vest and not visible except for a little of the buckle peeking out in the front. im trying to get this same type of set up but with Fettdads harness and possibly attaching a part to add on the waistbelt. As it is now the belt is attached to the JP and when it wraps around it bunches up the vest on the sides as im trying to keep the belt under the vest in the front whiles is on top of the vest towards the back as the JP is obviously on top of the vest. Does that make more sense?

i may just make 2 slots for the belt to go through the vest in the back so its all under the vest, but i was trying to come up with options where i wouldnt have to cut the vest.

If I am understanding you correctly, your issue is that you are running the belt through looks on the pack itself to hold it to your back, correct? This means you aren't using any harness at all? If that is the case, you are having the problem that you are having because essentially the belt is much too high. With the pack/harness system, the pack rests on a crossbar which is ABOVE the belt. The top of the belt (attached to the harness) sits at the bottom edge of the pack and extends below the pack, making it low enough to clear the vest as it comes around your body.

If you are committed to going without a harness, you should try to find a way to add an extension to the pack so the belt is below the pack, not above the bottom.

The only other solution would be one already mentioned by members. In the back of the real vest are two slots (for the harness cross bar to pass through). You could create slits like this in the back of your vest and pass the belt through them... the problem is, that means it is going to be tough to put this on (or get it off) yourself, so you have to weigh the advantages vs the disadvantages.

Here is a pic of the crossbar slot in the vest that you might use to your advantage.

Hey Art. You got it half right lol. I do have a harness. Im using fettdads, which is great. It doesnt however incorporate the lower belt wih the divers buckle. But in essesnce your getting what im talking about. I think i may just go with slits in the vest for now, like you pictured. That way the belt goes directly from the JP through the vest directly. I cant suit up myself anyway and always have my finace or another garrison mate giving me a hand, so that wouldnt be an issue. Then it wont bunch up the vest on the side and should just peek out in the front. Im gonna try and get pics tonight so everyone gets what im talkin about and hopfully this will help other future fetts!

My Batninja vest has a curved cutout at the bottom edge to accomodate the belt. The vest basically matches the curve of the armor.

My belt is riveted to the pack. It goes under the armor/vest through that curve and secures in the front. Super simple and easy :)

Yea my vest is an older LSFU and doesnt have that feature. Since im getting handy with the sewing machine, i could add that feature, or just do the slots for the belt to go through. Tho the arch seems to make it simpler.

I actually found an old thread from bobby fett UK where he made a soft harness in the same configuration as the metal one. That may be something for me to concider making as well.

I may also try and make a metal one since i have some of that electricians tubing that can be bent into the "U" shape. We also sell small sheet metal at work i could use.

So i now have options. Thanks guys!
