    Feb 5, 2014, 7:58 PM - possible alternative for holster strapping #1

as much as I would like to get a real nemrod holster, I can't justify spending that kind of money. so I got a resin copy and it's really nice. but I figured finding the strapping that closely resembled the original would be fairly easy. so after many failed attempts to find something close I stumbled upon this:

it's a serpentine belt for a car. grooves look about right. kind of thick. rubberized. durable. cheap! don't know if it's ever been mentioned before but I figured I would share. if it has, my apologies for the double post. once I get it trimmed and attached, i'll post up some pics. thanks for looking!

I may go that route. The straps that I got from Chris are a little cracked, so I may replace them at a later date.

Hey Jc27, I also had the same problems w/ Chris's straps, but was able to fix this with some plumbers putty in the crack, followed my gorilla glue once the putty dried then some humbrol paint to match and it's been working out so far.

The strap on my real holster is cracking so this would likely work as a replacement. If its a belt of somesort it may be reinforced inside which would be even better! Nice find! Imma have to get me one

the belt I got is from Advance Auto Parts. it's a serpentine belt made by Drive Rite model no. 740k6. another number underneath the model no. says 6pk1880. UPC code is 036687073211. appears to be fabric sandwiched between 2 layers of rubber. once side is grooved other side is mildly textured. it measures 3/4" wide, 1/8" thick and roughly 3ft in diameter (about 6ft. in length) you could easily make several straps from this. price was around $22, but under $25 with tax.

side note-how long are the both straps on the real holster?

need anymore info, just let me know.
