do the right one first...use WoF's templates and trace and cut them out..i used posterboard...start with the inner and outer shell for the bottom part...it has the 4 square cutouts so it should be easy to match those up...i shaped it with water mist....then with reference material you should be able to see how the other top parts fold together and where they go...they really are not too bad as once you start folding you kinda can see how it will start to go together...if you made your helmet you should be able to make these no sweat...use a good glue or w/e so its a strong bond...then glue some fiberglass sheets inside it and resin the whole thing and its pretty sturdy...then its just a matter of sanding off the edges of stuff that is poking out like resin drips or fiberglass pieces and then primer it and paint it

added the dart and the barrel looking things to the kneepads today...for the barrels I bought a vaccum cleaner attachment kit for maybe 4 dollars from walmart...for a small detailing vacuum obviously because they are very small...anyway i cut them with the dremel and kept the cool looking parts...i especially like the gatling gun looking tip i got for the left kneepad...for the dart on the right i bought a ceiling fan pull cord that had a rounded dart shaped pull "knob" i guess you can call it...cut the base off so it was flat on the bottom and took the chain out...a coat of metallic silver to make them look like steel and then i cut the holes into the kneepads and plugged them in...

ogunn i liked the way you made your knees they are cool..

the knees and gaunts were a weak point in my suit. check out the thread.. its called wip: rotj boba budget

now about the gaunts, how do you resin them... i have never worked with fiberglass before.. so what do i do from start to finish??

im by no means totally proficient with this stuff, but i dont think its too hard...as long as you mix the resin and hardener correctly it should dry nicely....i first resined the outside and let it dry so the gaunts were sturdy...then i took some fiberglass cloth sheets (not matting as i hear it is really messy and i actually got a nice roll of cloth with the resin kit i bought at walmart) i cut them in strips long enough to go the length of the gaunt and fairly wide so there are only maybe 3 strips inside them...then i glued the fiberglass sheets onto the inside of the gauntlets and let it dry making sure to have a nice flush connection with the surface with no creases or bubbles etc...only took a few minutes...after that i mixed some more resin up and coated the inside of the gaunts over the fiberglass sheets and let it dry...and thats it...the sheets absorb the resin and basically turn into a plastic type of material and adds lots of strength to the gaunts or w/e and glueing them down is alot less messy since the resin is extremely sticky and the cloth starts sticking to your fingers and tearing and it becomes a mess...so glueing them down prevents them from sliding around when you brush the resin onto them...i also watched a few vids on youtube with people showing how to do it so i had an idea in my head of the process....here is a link to one YouTube - Halo 3 ODST Armor Part 1.5 - Answering Fiberglass questions then you come back later after it is dried and sand the jagged areas smooth on the inside and the outside and any fiberglass sheeting that may be poking out

no, but the stain doesnt have a strong odor....on the resining you should prob wear one, i didnt, but i worked outside on my porch and it was fairly windy so i wasnt in a closed room inhaling fumes...u can buy cheap ones at walmart or home depot or lowes or w/e...you dont really need a gas mask looking one i guess, just something to prevent the fumes from hitting you full force in the face...prob a pack of the cheap ones can be like 10 bucks or less

Had a foam head so I painted the face so I can add to the mannequin so the helmet can be on or off. Tried to make him look space weary, beat up a little, unshaven, and w/ a 1000 yd stare

I'm back lol....been busy as hell but its getting close to halloween so I started working on the Jp again. Got the gap filler sprayed inside so its light and sturdy now. Painted now but no weathering and need to get the canisters for each side, rocket for the top, and the thruster cones attached. Then some weathering and clear coat and my fett v1 will be pretty complete....well not really, but close...
