you need a bespin guard pistol for fetts side arm, at the moment i dont know of anyone who builds or sells them but if you can find a jango pistol and paint and weather it i beleive this would work just fine. no body will really notice if its holstered. good luck!!!!
If you can wait until April 23rd, Hasbro is coming out with two versions of the pistols. There is a two pack that shoots darts and there is a single that is electronic with lights and sound. And the most surprising part? They are accurate!
Kevin, I have a Bespin Guard Blaster from the person you paid. I was very displeased; it was from an original, but has tons of air bubbles. His eBay auction had only a picture from the visual dictionary, so I should have known. I paid an outrageous sum for it, and will probably never use it since Jeremy told me he never wore the sidearm during filming! It has the oval bottom of the butt.
This pic shows the imperfections. I bought it, assembled and painted, in an auction in July of 2001.
:::MOD EDIT:::
I scaled that bad boy down just a bit.
I highly recommend getting a Bespin sidearm. I have one for my Jodo outfit and I`m trying to get the holster redone to look like Kast`s. Try over at the RPF if someone knows something.
Jodo
I was just watching ESB in widescreen laser disc format and noticed that Fett did in fact have a pistol hanging from his belt. Now, I've heard that Jeremy Bulloch said he never wore a pistol in that role, but it's there, I swear. Maybe he was talking ROTJ.
Perhaps his (Jeremy) statement of not wearing a sidearm was just a rumor, or maybe he simply forgot (memory is often unreliable).
Of course, the ESB version I was watching was the Special Edition, so if what Jeremy said is true, that would mean that Fett was replaced in the SE (which I highly doubt).
If anyone is interested, I can try to get some screen caps to prove my point.
Max, same here. I've been capping ESB like a mad-man for the Ref 2.0 disk, and yes the side-arm is there!
Jeremy, great guy. Great to fans. Great to have been Boba Fett. But unfortunately, some of things he says has to be taken with a grain of salt. I always use this as my top example, but Jeremy has said in numerous interviews that the helmet was metal...Ummm....
I don't believe they added any additional Fett footage to the SE, which is what I have been capping from. So I think Jeremy just got a little cornfused.
can you post any pics?im just in the begining stages of my fett, so far i have ammo puches and 75% of the jet pack done.its would great to see some pics of his sidearm.i have only seen one pic of it before.
im going to have to scrutinze ESB......again!!!!...![]()
Heh, it's so weird that I never could see the pistol before. But I'm glad to know that it's there.
I'll try to pull a few grabs and post them here tonight.
EDIT:::
Not gonna get any prop reference-worthy shots, but here are 2 shots for proof anyway:
You can clearly see the full length of the holster and barrel here:
This one on the star destroyer you can see the barrel tip:
And here I thought this was common knowledge nowJust check out the Action Figure Archive,....it's got a few nice clear shot of the holster/sidearm.
Now if only the actualy speargun can be found,....THAT would be some nice new info.
Steve
If you look at the 300th edition Boba Fett action figure, you can see the blaster and holster. It's probably the best reference.
Not that I own one,but I've heard that the Marmit Fett is also an excellent point of reference for this particular peice,especially the holster.Mine was modeled after it
Steve
can someone post a pic of the sidearm off the fett figure?
I posted the marmit pistol in this thread:
http://forum.thedentedhelmet.com/vie...ic=986&forum=5
![]()
does anyone have any ideas as to what kind of pistol this is???
The most current theory is that the side-arm is most likey a Nemrod Speargun...
The Marmit picture reminds me of an old .22 target pistol made by Ruger, has that been looked into?
I just checked the Ruger's and they are similar , but not quite. The main problem is I have yet to see a "pistol" with the indentations in the grip.
Check out these Nemrod spear guns, and I think you will see it is the right track- check the grip on the middle speargun...And these were made in the 70's...
![]()
the last speargun on there, wasnt that one of Bobas too?
I can see the resemblance with the speargun and the pistol, what I was thinking was more along the lines of an Olympic style target pistol where the grips contour the hand, some have very extreme indentations but generally they're made to fit a "normal" hand.
Was the Nemrod available in England at the time?
I'm altering an old Nintendo gun to look like it. All I need now is the stock and some little details. I'll post some pics when it's done.
Would you be using this Nintendo Zapper?
![]()
When someone posted a pic of the Nemrod spear gun and suggested it was the gun that was used to make the Bespin gaurd blasters it looked pretty obvious. Then it was suggested that Boba carried a modified version of this gun in a holster. Which looked correct, so I bought a Nemrod. I thought I had something, but a view of Boba's gun from a pic showed the grip of his gun to be rectangular on the bottom, the Nemrod grip is oval. Now, I'm not sure if these shots of his gun are accurate, but if they are, his gun may not be a Nemrod ..... DARN!
The grip is definitely rectangular for Fett's side-arm...the oval grip Nemrod is correct for the Bespin blaster. I believe you can even make out their logo on the Bespin blaster.
It gun almost looks like you could make one from one of those old black Laser Tag guns with the top removed.
I went to the ref CD and pulled up the production photo of Jeremy Bulloch wearing the suit from behind which has a great shot of the pistol in the holster shown here:fettcicle wrote:When someone posted a pic of the Nemrod spear gun and suggested it was the gun that was used to make the Bespin gaurd blasters it looked pretty obvious. This weekend I was at one of my Dad's friend's house and he had several of his pistols out, one of which is a new .22 target pistol, the grip is what had my attention though in that it has the weighted rectangular bottom, anatomical grip with the finger overlay, and the grip continues into the body. Also because it's a target pistol the barrel starts just over the base of the thumb which is consistent with the picture but is not as long as the picture, but I think with some tweaking could work. I'm going to wait till the next gun show and see if I can pick up an uncut target grip without barrel and then give it a crack with a sander to see if I can make anything happen.
I am using that Nintendo Zapper. I removed the light gray parts and wire, adding a new barrel and a few more little details llike the stock.
First off, crisisfilms, what did you use as the barrel end for your zapper?
Secondly, while we're on/around the subject. How do I go about making a decent holster for that sidearm? What is the rough shape of it, is it comparable to the Marmit holster? Does anyone have a picture of the actual holster or of a fan-made holster that is agreed to be reasonably accurate?
Also I imagine it can be made from a single piece of material that is folded around. It would be great to see even a rough idea of what kind of shape could be turned into a holster for this thing.
I hope this isn't too confusing,
Thanks much,
Phil
My holster is based off of the Marmit since there is absolutely no shot to get any kind of design from.Plus the Marmit's does look nice,and get's points for being accurate to something
The holster looks a lot like this actually...
I can't tell if the grip on this thing is oval or rectangular....opinions?
Looks oval but hopefully I'm wrong. -Mark
Yeah, it does look ovalish.I'm hoping that maybe it's just a vintage version of that speargun.
I think on the holster you might want to cut lower, because the back view picture makes it look like the trigger is exposed, at least IMO.
This is the Marmit holster- for what it is worth...
I agree that holster or speargun is not even 90% accurate, but I think it's close enough to look like we are on the right track...

Since its one of those details that very few know about, I'll be using a Jango blaster as my side arm. I've painted a rubies Jango blaster to look all beat up, like Boba still carries a bit of dad with him. All you see on the costume is the metal barel tip and the handel anyway.
I'm using the tip to a Jango blaster on the end of mine.
I'm using a "modified" Hasbro Westar for my sidearm.
My thinking is this: If Boba took his father's helmet and jet pack after his death, what would have prevented him from taking one of the Westars too? Being alone now, he would need some way to protect himself, and considering that Jango taught him how to fight, I'm sure he could handle a Westar. Besides, kids love guns.
Having said that, I went with the idea that my Boba sidearm was one of Jango's Westars. The gun started out chrome, out of the box, which wasn't even accurate to begin with. The Visual Dictionary shows that the barrel is some type of chrome-type metal, and that the grip is a slightly darker metal.
Therefore, I went with the idea that the metal of the barrel would probably be of higher quality metal than that of the grip, since the barrel is the really important part of the gun.IF the barrel's metal is of higher quality than the grip's metal, it should age more slowly, and with less degradation than the grip would.
I repainted the barrel with Testor's Model Master "Steel", which is more subdued than chrome, and gives it an aged look. I repainted the grip with Rust-O-Leum "Anodized Bronze", which looks like the original color, only many shades darker, which is a believable hue if the metal degraded alot over the 30+ years since Boba would have picked the gun up. I'm also assuming that Boba would have actually USED the Westar, and not put it up somewhere.
If he used it a good deal for 30+ years, it would have received its share of battle scars, scrapes, rust, carbon scoring and buildup, and weathering.
To complete the gun (and make it look more real), I opened it up and replaced the cheesy orange plastic "light tube" that lights up when you pull the trigger with a 1/2" diameter brass tube.
After closing the gun back up, it looks just like how I imagine one of Jango's Westars would look years later if used by Boba on a regular basis.
Admittedly, the gun *could* be made out of some type of indestructible/impervious metal that would not lose it's finish or suffer adversely from regular use for a long time, but we'll probably never know one way or another.
I'll post pics when I get it dullcoated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~
:::UPDATE:::
Here are those pics that I promised...
This is a pic of the completed Westar, after repainting & dullcoating it. I replaced the orange plastic light tube with a 1/2" brass tube.
I weathered the barrel (after sanding the "chrome paint" off) by applying Testor's "Steel", "Jet Exhaust", "Gun Metal", and Liquitex "Mars Black" acrylic paints. The base ("Steel") was airbrushed on, then the "Jet Exhaust" and "Gun Metal" colors were sponged on. The "Mars Black" was then airbrushed as a final color before dullcoating. It took more time and effort, but the layering produced an effect that is very realistic. Sorry my pictures don't do it justice.
This is a pic of the holster that I made for the Westar out of vinyl. I sewed it using a sewing machine, and hand-stitched the strap onto the holster. The strap is "quilted", as well.
I would say that the total cost of the holster to make, vinyl and snap and thread, was about $.50 - $.75. It's hard to figure it out, since I bought everything in large amounts, but I would say that that amount is pretty close. It's not perfect, and my sewing leaves a lot to be desired, but for less than $1.00, you can't go wrong!Besides, I STILL have to weather (beat up) the holster some anyway.
This is a pic of the Westar in the holster on the same belt with the utility pouches on it (just out of frame).
All in all, not a bad accessory for about $10 and a few hours of work!
I may eventually replace the holster with a leather one, but for now, the vinyl seems to be strong enough, and it's the same material that I made my utility pouches out of, so it matches.
Dull coated yet?? i'de love to see those pics!
Nope. Just finished the weathering (sponging and airbrushing) last night and unfortunately, I had to go to work today (my boss is silly like that).
I'll try to get it done this weekend.![]()
Boba's sidearm has a stock on it though.
You guys do realize that both of Jangos blasters were lost in episode 2 right?.... The first was lost during the fight with Obi-Wan on Kamino...Jango get it knocked out of his hand and the second was lost during the fight with Mace Windu, Mace slices the barrel off before cutting Jango's head off... ive noticed these things all 4 times i saw it
There probably was one in the glove compartment in Slave 1.
![]()
As far as a stock goes, the only gun with a stock that I've seen, other than his EE-3, is that weird-looking pre-pro gun.
I've seen a picture of him with what appears to be a pistol with a rectangular butt/grip in a holster behind his right hip bag. It appears to hang from his utility belt along with his hip bags. Of course, now that I need that picture as a reference to make my holster, I can't find it.Anyone else have it?
As for Jango's guns getting destroyed, I find it hard to believe that Jango only owned *2* firearms.hehe
I find that hard to belive to, but why else would he only have one during the Geonosis battle?
That's not what I'm saying. Re-read my post.
I'm not saying that he had *both* of his guns during the arena battle, nor am I saying that he didn't lose one to Obi-Wan.
What I *am* saying, is that I doubt Jango, being the type of guy that he is, would only own *2* firearms. Sure, he has his gauntlets, his jet pack, and his knees, all of which offer him offensive capabilities, but they're just not the same as having "a trusty blaster at your side"...
You know that he had to have one or two (or maybe more) squirreled away someplace in case he needed a fallback, or for a "rainy day" situation. And yeah, he could have even stashed one on Slave I in case one (or both) were destroyed during an off-world adventure and he needed to re-arm himself. I guess I could say that Boba's sidearm is an "extra" Westar that he discovered onboard Slave I or something.I just finished sewing up my holster, so it's too late to turn back now!
Thousands of possibilites exist, and I'm running with them!
And what IS it with all of these Jedi cutting off the barrels of Fett family guns?!? What's up with that?Hindsight being 20/20, if Boba saw Mace cut Jango's Westar in half, he SHOULD have been expecting it when Luke chopped his own EE-3 in ROTJ...
Those pics look really cool. Nice job.
Thanks for the compliment!
I did it mostly as an experiment to see if I COULD do it, but also to hopefully show others that with a little imagination and a few dollars, you can make something to be proud of.![]()
This looks great! That was a VERY creative idea.
Your talent amazes me.![]()
Very nice gun. I really need to get a new one.
Thanks! It was the first resin kit I ever assembled, which just attests to the quality of the kit (see other thread in the WEAPONS section...). I built and painted it in 7 days (spending about 8 hours a day on it). Of course, some of that time was spent on the electronics, and since those are not part of the kit, I shouldn't include them in my time figure.crisisfilms wrote:Very nice gun. I'm about to paint my ESB/Nintendo side-arm and am not sure what colors it is.
is it just silver and brown or silver and black.
i saw the pic of the marmit fett side arm and it is brown w/ a silver barrel.
is this how everyone else painted theirs?
any help would be greatly appreciated(color, type of paint, etc.)
thanks.
THANK YOU!!
MaxPlague.
finally a reply!! j/k
Ok, it looks like the gun is mostly brown w/ a silver barrel.
so then what color has anybody used for the brown?
Thanks again.
and yes i have seen a pic of the marmit fett side-arm somewhere in one of these posts.(and unfortunatly never in person)
I used "Plasti-cote" GM #7147 to paint mine.It's a metallic brownish/bronze,and looks fantastic.When I was building my Bespin pistol conversion kit I printed out those very pics and went to Pep Boys to look at all the different touch-up spray paints.I matched it up pretty close I think,and the metallic really adds a nice flare.Of course I weathered it extensively thoughI'd like to eventually have the barrel machined in aluminum instead of the resin one.
BTW I remember someone asking if you had your pic sig. pic. in a higher resolution and not sure what the response was.I really love that pic of Boba/Jango
Steve
Thanks for the info DL44 Blaster.
However we don't have a Pep Boys in our area.
could you get it anywhere else?
also, do you have any pics of your sidearm?
thanks again.
oh, yeah someone did ask about our sig. you probably didn't see the answer since we PM'd him.
but to answer the question of wether we do or not, as far as we know we don't, you can always check the site that we got it at. heres the link:
its in the 4th row from the top.
hope this helps.
You can always try any auto supply store in your area for those paints, sometimes even a Mart (Wal or K) will have them.
thanks for the tip MaxPlague.
would it be by the spray paint or the automotive section?
Thanks again.
Oh, and i was wondering if anyone using the Nintendo Zapper for their sidearm, would show me a pic of how they painted it. and how do you go about taking the cord out? do you just yank it out or is there another method?
any input would be Great!!
![]()
![]()
It would be in the automotive section with all the bondo and other body work stuff ie. touch-up paint,and such.It is essentially touch-up spray paint anyhow so it should be with all that stuff if the store is carrying it![]()
'm using the zapper for mine. I haven't painted it yet but will soon. To take the cord out, undo as many screws from the bottom as possible then cut the wires on the inside so that there is nothing left sticking out (you'll understand when you do it). I would also recommend removing the light grey pieces on the top. Simply unscrew them and fill in the holes with something (not sure what yet, let me know if you figure it out)
I know that the ESB Fett sidearm has yet to be positively identified, and it looks pretty much like we never will given the existing state of ESB Fett reference materials.
However, take a peek at what I scored:
This is an old (70's I think) Monteverdi TV Sports Game pistol (model E-825 if you're interested). I think this will look pretty dang nice parked in my holster once I give it a few mods.
You guys like?
Wow very nice. Where did you get that?
Got it on good ol' Ebay for $20. It came with a whole game console and controllers...but this pistol was all I was interested in![]()
exellent!!!
im sure there are some video game collectors out there that will shudder from the future of that pistol...LOL!!!
I like that! I'm going to convert an NES zapper for sale with my first suit, but I'm definitely going to look for one of those. Great shape and more 'star warsish' with more detail than the zapper!
Great find,
Thanks!
Phil
By God that's it !
What a find !
Yea, what they said, Great find. Now watch the price of these go to $60 on Ebay.
Boba Freekk: Well, I might just cast it and do my modifications on the copy instead (still not sure though).
Phil: Yeah, I couldn't pass this up...it looked so much closer to what I imagined the "real" one would be.
Carbon Chamber: It sure would be a load off my mind if this did turn out to be what was used originally...that would be really cool.
The one thing that's missing (aside from the paint job) that I can see is the flared heel rest on the bottom of the grip, but that can be added easily enough.
Spidey2222: heh, isn't that just the way of things?I've seen 3 of these on Ebay so far, all of them sold for about $20-$30...I hope when the next ones hit that they can be had for a reasonable cost.
Was the origin ever nailed down? I thought it was a spear gun.
This one is definitely cool though, I can't find one on ebay though.
Phil
So . . you looked too eh? hahahaha
Jer
Awesome find!! Did you just search for old video game consoles on ebay, or??
![]()
It never was nailed down, the whole speargun thing came about because it was initially thought to be one of the Nemrod spearguns used by the guards on Bespin. I still wouldn't discount that idea though, it could very well have been a speargun...but no one knows for sure yet.journeymanprotector wrote:Was the origin ever nailed down? This is pretty much all we have to go on right now (aside from the Marmit pistol which may or may not be correct):
BountysHunted: I just searched for "game gun" I think, then stumbled across the Monteverdi system.
Keep checking every week or so, I'm sure more will come up (I hope).
Great score, Max! Should be a good alternative side-arm.
This is the closest speargun I have found (maybe we need a vintage model of this??) Like Max said, who knows for now...
Thanks Max, for the "what-to-search-for."!
oh man - this is great! I always wondered what that gun I had really was from. I picked mine up at an auction yard for a buck when I was 13 or something because I 'felt' it was good for a Star Wars gun. Of course back then all I wanted to do is play Star Wars... ah - who am I kidding, that's all I want to do now!
Just recently I decided to dig it out and use it as my Fett sidearm. I would love to see the progress picks of your project. I will probably have a tip machined to fit this gun so that may be of interest to other beholders of this gun.
TK581: Don't ya just love diggin something up you saved from years earlier and getting to say "cool, I knew I'd find a use for this someday!"
The modding for mine will be a slow process, but I'll definately keep everyone posted here.
The barrels are removeable on these things, so a new barrel and tip are definately part of the plan.
Fetthunter, very nice pics of the EE-3. You do nice work.Fetthunter wrote:Thanks! Not that I know anything but just to broaden the search Ideas beyond the spear gun, but considering they used a Horse girth, could the gun be some type of veterinary injector gun , spring loaded, used to inject medication into animals? Just an idea![]()
Having raised many a horse, no. typically if they use guns for injections they are pnuematic
Here is my ESB/SOTE Boba Fett Hand Blaster
I then gave the Blaster a Black primer coat next came the gun black paint.
I weathered it with Humbrol model paint a mix of aluminum, silver and gun metal, the grip was painted Antique Bronze with a new Bronze weathering.
I finished it with a coat of matt varnish and poliched it just a bit to give it that parkerised look real old guns have.
here you can see the blaster, holstered on Boba Fett in the Bespin freeze chamber
EXCELLENT piece man!!! Where did you score that?? PM me please...
awesome blasterLooks like the same kit as mine
That's an excellent paint job. Makes me rethink mine
Is MB still producing these?
Phil
I mailed him a little while ago and he said he still was.
Jer
I don't know were the kit originated from, cause I got the kit true a collector.
All I do know is it toke me a arm and a leg to fill all the air holes in the kit.
lol. Mine was pretty good. A few here and there, particularly on the grip, but figured after it was painted black no one would see it. I used the marmit paint scheme for mine, so the body is rust/bronze and the handle grips are black. Plus since it'll be in the holster for good I'm not too concerned about the general appearance.
Awesome paint job, I really like it
Phil
Um, I just noticed this. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think your barrel is on backwards
A set of instructions came with mine and instructed me to do it this way:
At first I wasn't sure if it was yours or mine, but here's a pic that shows the barrel...
Not that it's a big deal, the holster covers it all etc. And nobody knows the blaster is there anywayAnd I still really like that color on the blaster. Nice gunmetalish effect
