These are absolutely horrible scans but hopefully you will see that I am getting better and better at building these squeegees. There are still some minor things that could be better but overall I am pretty satisfied with it. This one is for SARLACC FOOD (Chsris Skidmore). I have to make one more for Hammerhead and then a final one for myself and I will be DONE! Let me know what you think!

In the "Vis.Dic." the squeegee is actually a "sonic beam weapon".The stir stick is a "survival knife".I forget the other two,"names" of the shin tools at the moment.

I posted this over at the RPF and thought I would post it here as well.

I received my survival knife from DL 44's project today. I did some grinding, filing, sanding and epoxying on it. Here is the finished results:

Here is how I did it:

First I made a copy of the supplied drawing and cut out and taped it to the blade. Then sanded and filed down to the line on the drawing. I used some temperature curing epoxy I have to glue the disk to the blade, but I think room temp 2 part epoxys should work as well. I did not sharpen the blade, I left it the same thickness.

For the point I first used a hack saw to remove some of the excess material, then used a disk sander to shape it.

For the scallops I just used a standard bastard file.

I used som 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and wet sanded all surfaces to remove any scratches.

I read somewhere once that on the Anti-security blade thingee that someone used two Exactoo blade knife handles for the "unidentifiable" metal rods and it worked great!

I assure you that the intensity controls on the anti-security blade are not x-acto handles (in fact that was the first debate I had on the rpf way back when) BUT if you don't want to have the pieces custom machined then x-acto handles work VERY well in their place!

No it isn't finished and the weathering needs a massive overhaul (actually the weathering was still wet when I took the picture) but I think this looks very promising! I expect these machined rods, after just a bit of tweaking (did I hear a groan from the machinist?), will be perfect!!! They are darn near it now but I think I gave the machinist a few, slightly incorrect measurements. Anyway, what do you think? The real deal is on the left and mine is on the right.

Hi guys. I have one of my early squeegee conversions for sale. It isn't perfect but for someone who doesn't want to finish a squeegee themselves, it will do the trick. I am offering it for $28.50, shipped via priority mail which is cheaper than you can buy a new squeegee from B&H Photo. I will accept money order of paypal. Here are pics:

THere is one other camera shop that has it for around $26.00 bucks with the squeegee going for about $6.00, about $3.00 cheaper than B&H, but that other shops shipping handling charges were murder!

B&H is the best option for now...with many other places selling the squegee in excess of $35.00.

Someone was selling a shin knife (yeesterday?) in the General Info section. I don't see it now... It showed a blueprint for the knife (along with the aluminum blank you would use to make the knife out of).

It seems the knife is 8.060" long, .188" thick, and 1.312" wide. The round butt cap on the knife is also 1.312" in diameter (to match the width of the handle).

As far as the holes in the handle and the "waves" on the blade, you'll have to figure those measurements out for yourself.

Hope this helps.

I posted this on the RPF when TDH was down so I thought I would repost it here too.

I'm trying to straighten out this problem with Boba's shin tools. I've seen different version of the tools and need to know which ones are correct.

It seems that the Jet Pack tool and the knife are the same in just about every picture ive seen. But the Anti Security Blade and Sonic Beam Weapon have different versions.
(If anyone wishes to have their set removed let me know, I just culled the archives for know sets of tools. Thanks)

Just my opinion (and I'm probably wrong), but I think that the shin tools with the added details, like in the VD pics, are made just for the VD. Just to give them a ''technical'' look, like they actually do something. It may also depend on which version of the suit you're doing, as they may be differnt for each. Like I said, I'm probably wrong

What do you think? I used a Aluminium silver spray and Gouach
(for the red stripe and weathering)and gave them some coats

The width on that is exactly 3/8". The small area between the handle outsides is 3/16" (between the top and bottom moving parts. If that made any sense). Post some pics when you get done.

Some easy to notice differences are:

Prepro #1 = Orange side pouch.
'Eyes' painted on helmet.
Each breast plate is a different shade of green.

#2= yellow gauntlet w/ coil flame thrower.

#3= All reference photographs of prepro #3
have a 'terrible' blue haze.

The survival knife is a Paterson stir stick used for Photographic developing. I think they can still be purchased, the "knife" that people see is an attempt by Don Post to create "tools" for their statue. The info can be found here http://www.partsofsw.com/fettrotj.htm

Most fan made ones made today don't look like the Patterson Squeege stirrer, except for MB's.

I got a Stir stick and cut the sucker down. Then I just scaled the rest using the visual dictionary. The rest of the blade was made sculpy, then attached to the stirer. Then I made a mold of the whole thing.

I'm just now starting to work on my squeegee and I've gotting all the cutting and glueing done and I'm getting ready to start painting...just noticed though; is it me, or is the black stripe a little bit raised like it's not painted on, almost like it's black electrical tape just like what's holding the rods on the anti-security blades. Any opinions as to if i'm right or not?

Other than exacto knife handles, and custom machined parts, are there any other alternatives for the anti-security blade? I've got it pretty much done except for taping the rods and I haven't been able to find exacto handles that I like well enough.

I agree, to me it looks like this is the same electrical tape used on the Anti-Security Blade. It's definitely not paint. It looks as though they even cut it after it was laid on.

I guess I depends on the source which colors are most correct. I went with a cross between the MOM and VD versions and people seem to like them. All the tools beside the knife are supposed to look like metal, either aluminum or steel colored. The knife is kind of a cross between a copper and light Gold color.

For those of you that have made your Anti-Security blade from the tip of the Patterson Squeegee, what did you use for the black "blade" and the metal rods?

Here is a picture from Bracks post earlier in the thread:

No one has made an Anti-Security blade? I find that hard to believe.

Come on guys and girls, I know the shin tools are not as important as the bucket, but they still need to be built.

Thanks,
Gator

I'm planning to use standard Xacto knives cut to length and a piece of 1/8’ aluminum for the back.

I'm going to whip out CAD and make some shin tools with full dimensions. I sure hope no one else did this, if so, don't say anything becuase I'm going to make them anyways.

Re: Official Shin Tool Thread

Oh yes, PM me if you want the CAD drawing. Just print at 1:1, tape on to trash can, sintra, etc. Take a nice big Sharpy marker, trace thick so it can go through the paper and onto the base below it, let it dry and cut it out.

Nine inches really surprised me, I thought it would be less than that. Until I linked myself to a site up above that actually sold these saying that it was 9" long. I basically took a picture of the shin tool and pasted it in CAD, traced it, I modified it a little bit to the dimensions that it probably 95% is.

I'll get working on my shin tool, I'll post pics tomorrow or so after I cut it out.

My shin tools off of eBay

I bought these resin tools off of eBay, from ancientsculptures. A couple of the pieces weren't terribly movie accurate, but the "sonic beam weapon" looks cool anyway. Here are some pics of the tools after I painted them:

That's the same set I have. What type of paint did you use? I can't get the paint I've tried to dry on the tools. I guess the resin is messed up?

I used Testors spray paints for the main stuff, flat Krylon for the black, acrylic for the weathering, and Testors silver brush paint for the scratches.

Mark make sure you give them a light sanding before painting and maybe a primer coat before the base silver, sometimes depending on what he used for resin paint has a hard time sticking, expecially silver and if the resin is shiney and smooth.

Do yourself a HUGE favor too. Use soap and water to wash mold release agent off before you paint. I speak from experience

Re: Official Shin Tool Thread

I have been working on these for a little while. The dimensions are based off the found items and the Visual Dictionary. While it looks like the VD created the Sonic Beam and Survival Knife from scratch, the dimensions I have are off the Patterson stirring rod and the squeegee. Hope the attachments work...

I have no idea what it is, but I am a 100% certain it is neither the jet pack beacon nor the adjustment tool. Looks like someone took some artistic license to the part.

Either I missed it or I did not see a color listed for the redish stripe. Anyone have a suggestion U.S. color please.
