Remember to cut and past the link..

All I did was paint the entire gun black with acrylic paint (I mixed in some brown for the stock...and added some here and there on the body of the gun for variations in the black). After it dried, I used a silver, brown and a little gold paint here and there. Parts like the scope got slighty heavier doses of silver paint, but what I did mostly was paint on some silver, then wiped it down with a dry rag. This left a nice tinting of silver (did the same with the brown and gold...used the gold here and there mostly on the metal connection between the handle and the stock). Some of the obvious places got solid little scrapes of silver...like the tip of the barrel, around the cooling vanes, the adjustment nuts on the scope, and various places here and there that stuck out more from the gun.
After it was all done, I sealed it with a coat of satin finish clearcoat spray paint! Worked like a charm!!!!!

What kind of replica gun will pass for the handle and load chamber of the Fett blaster? I doubt I can get one of thoes WWII flair guns, unless someone has a sourse for a casting. I have emailed both Richies armor and Golden armor, but no reply as of yet.
Do any of these look the part?

The bottom of the grips on those Civil War pistol seem too flared. I remember an old tutorial posted on AYW that showed how to make a ROTJ blaster using a Crossman .357 pellet gun as the base gun. I discovered that Mark B. used a toy revolver for my base gun, but after it is all assembled, painted, and weathered, you can't tell.

Ah, the SIDE PLATES on the stock. I spoke with Boba Debt on this very subject and he said he is having someone make a set for him (and possibly a set for me). They are being hand made. I really don't know the origin of the originals. If I am lucky enough to get a set, I would be willing to let someone cast them. I'll check back in with BD next week.

The large plate looks a lot like the inside of one half of a film drying clip I used to have. It was made from plastic. It was used to clamp onto a wet developed roll of film, which you'd then hang from a wire to let the film dry.

Unfortunately, I gave all my old b&w photography supplies away years ago.

However, maybe this will give us a starting point...just a thought.

I met this guy through an auction on ebay. He lives out in Oreon if I remember correctly. I found him by winning an ebay auction for resin knee darts that he made. When I bought his knee darts, I asked him if he had any more Fett parts. He told me about these stock plates. He does damned good work.

He also says he's working on a resin rifle. I'm not sure where he stands on that one.

I was in a surplus shop today and found these little nesting steel shot glasses. They look the same size and shape as the ROTJ blaster tip. I got a set of 4 for $10.00. I found a web sight that sells them. It also gives thier dimentions as 2 in wide by 1 and 1/2 in high. If you cut the bottom off and glued in a peice of steel, or aluninum tubing, to make it look like a heavier peice, I think it would be **** close to the real thing. If you look around you can probobly find them, like mine, without a logo.

Hey guys, I was in Hobby Lobby and saw a small wood flower pot. It works great for the nozzle. I had to sand down the rim to fit my barrel of 1 1/2" inside diameter. With a little epoxy to smooth it out and some paint I think it will work great and it was only $1.00. Here is a link.

My solution to the tip dilemma was solved while drinking a Coke! I noticed that the bottle where it tapers up to the opening was the perfect shape. So after some cutting, gluing, and some epoxy work it looks pretty much dead on. Cheap solution and easy to find!

I thought it was documented that the wiper blades on the ROTJ Fett blaster are the same as the wiper blades used on several of the earlier lightsabers, and that they are wiper blades for an Austin Mini.

If so, with the resurgence of the Mini's popularity it seems like it would be easy to locate a auto parts dealer that speacializes in Minis (in the U.S. or abroad) that sells OEM wiper blades. They would be more than the generic ones at WalMart, but then again, they'd be *correct*. Just depends on how obsessed/anal you are about that sort of thing.

Well, it would most likely be in the 1968-1976 range of Minis, but it's not critical since all of the Mini/Mini Cooper parts from those years are interchangeable (kind of like the old VW Beetles).

Most likely, you're looking for Anco wiper blade refills, Part # 12-12. These are replacement blades for the Minis.

Try searching for wiper refills for a 1968 Austin Mini Cooper here:

    Good luck!

Guys those modern blades will not be correct, you need lightsaber grip material. In fact I used close ups of the ROTJ Fett frifle to help me craft the profile for my recent extrusion of grip. Does anyone know how many feet of grip would be needed for the rifle? Or even how many grips and what length they should be? I can offer them cut to size then and backed with adhesive

I can put together a special deal for TDH if somone can get me the info.

    Merged: ROTJ Fett blaster question

Ok, after months of reading posts and looking at some of the great pics out there I have decided two things:

1.) I am going to make a Boba Fett ROTJ complete costume.

2.) I am going to scratch build a blaster. (From what I have read the Spidey Blasters are all "consumed" and there won't be more made. AND I can't affor some of the prices people are asking for the ones being sold on EBAY.

    Now here come the questions:

1.)Does anyone posses accurate dimensions of the ROTJ blaster? If so, could they foreward them to me?
2.)It appears from the pics I have seen that in ROTJ Fett does not have the back-up blaster/sidearm that is seen in ESB. IS this true?

Thanks in advance to you all.

I don't have dimensions, but I can give you an idea of what I used to make mine:
    1. Crossman Air pistol from Wal-Mart; removed the barrel housing, and used JBWeld epoxy to secure it into...

    2. 2" PVC pipe.

    3. Evergreen #189 plastic ribs, found at HobbyTownUSA.

    4. I cut the middle section out of a cheap auto funnel for the barrel tip.

    5. $8 rifle scope from Wal-Mart, JB Weld-ed onto the top of the barrel.

    6. Small piece of Sintra, curved to fit over the cowling, and puttied in place with Bondo, plumber's putty or the like.

    7. Custom 'D' connector, made from 2 pieces of Sintra, glued together and sanded down. Someone on this board can make these from aluminum or metal, but not sure.

    8. Wood stock, made from small piece of wood, sanded and stained.

    9. And finally, a shoulder strap, using shotgun mounts (found in the gun section at Wal-Mart) and an old camera case strap. Not movie accurate, but nice to be able to use your hands once in a while.

I hope this helps you get started!

Here's my rifle. I apologize for the big pics..

The PVC pipe for the barrel is about 12 1/4". This may not be exact, but I figure it's too late to change it now!

The Evergreen plastic strips (#189) can be ordered from the following website, but you should be able to find them or something close at a local hobby store, like HobbyTownUSA.

    http://www.udisco.com/hobbies/inv/EVERGR.HTM

NOTE: This is by no means a 'movie-accurate' replica. I made this a few years ago before I had access to all the MoM exhibit pictures. But I have no intention of redoing it, either. I LOVE the way it turned out.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Thanks for the compliments, Robert!

I used a Crossman air pistol from Wal-Mart for the base. The only true 'reference' photo I had was from the BF magazine, that had a decent shot of the barrel from the front. By that time, I had already put on eight ribs, which I thought was correct. I had to trash the barrel, sand it down again, and glue TWELVE instead.

The only thing I'd like to replace is the 'D' piece that connects the stock to the rifle. I used two sheets of Sintra and JB Welded them together. It's sturdy enough for display, but not quite strong enough for everyday usage. I have to be real careful when I troop. It's hard to explain to a kid, "No, you can't hold the gun, because it might break in the middle."

Someone makes those 'D' connectors in aluminum, I think. But I'm not sure what mods I'd have to make to the rifle to support a different piece.

Hey all, I jsut wanted to chime in and say thank you, especially to BatNinja. I used his reference pics and measurements as a base for the begining of my gun. I have the barrel cut, the ribs placed and just got the material for the stock friday.

I also had another member send me some pretty awesome reference pics of his actual webley laid next to a ruler(thank GOD for Autocad and the Scale>reference command!).

    Things are rolling.

    Thanks again all.

Is the blaster in that photo a "stunt blaster"? It looks weird. I did a dark wood stain on mine. IMHO I think it makes it look more realistic.

It may likely be a stunt blaster. The pics are from AoSW. That blaster appears to be solid resin (not sure about the stock and connector plate) including the scope. It is definately not a real Webley.

True, but painting it this color would not necessarily be the wrong color, The stock is also this color in Jabba's palace, but not when He flies over to luke on the sail barge. There are so many variations of Boba Fett what is right or wrong and you really knows?

The split plugs were used on the ESB blaster as stock plates, but the ones used on the ROTJ blaster were parts off the visible V-8 model.

the closest i've seen was the stalk only for $750 USD. so if that's the whole gun... what's the euro? $2 or so? $800? heck, i'd buy that

Thanks, am considering taking that one already. The EURO is around 1.20 US right now btw.

Just in case I really do, for a ROTJ blaster, do I have to modify the barrel ( by slipping a new one over it or something like that ) or are the wiper blades clued directly on the original one.
I am not sure about that but the original barrel looks a little to thin and to short to me.

so on the note of the rotj blaster... when building up a gun, what do folks use for this part:

by this part i mean the bit between the t-track stuff around the barrel, and the rear of the gun? did that make sense?

i bought a resin webley on rpf recently and have started building it out as an rotj rifle, and that part has me a bit stumped.

I updated the pic. I still have a little work to do but I am almost there. Sorry about the lower res pic, my digital camera isn't the best.

Does anybody know what the part on the right is from? I've already got the "V-8 kit" which has the part on the left... but I am still trying to ID the one on the right... any help would be great.

I heard it was from the V-8 kit as well. Part of the battery pack for the moving version.

I just pick up the vintage V8 kit off of e-bay and the large stock plate is not part of that kit. As far as I can tell it is still an unknown.

Bummer, I just bought the 1977 kit on ebay. I do have a copy of the missing part but, I don't know who made it or where it can from.

The large stock plate is not part of the model kit. In fact that part has not been identified yet.

    OK, Noob question...

How thick is the grip plate that the stock mounts to? I've just finished carving my stock, but no idea how thick to make the plate... I've looked at Alan's blueprints, and if each square represents 1 inch, I'm guessing it to be around 3/8" ?

My original is 0.35" thick. You mean the Stock Bracket, the grip plate is a different part.

I drew that part at 3/8" mainly for the ease of manufacturing. 3/8 being a standard size for metal plate and plastic sheet, but if the original is .35" then I wasn't too far off the mark.

    Re: Official ROTJ Blaster Thread

Hi, I'm starting to build an ROTJ Fett blaster, but some of the links in this thread are dead. Is there anywhere I can find more pics of the screen used prop and maybe a breakdown of the parts and greeblies needed?

So far I have acquired from several cources a full resin blaster with a solid barrel(is it better to cut off the barrel and replace it with a PVC pipe?), 2 alum greeblies for the stock, a real scope, and some other parts which I'm not sure goes where...

Would it help if I post a pic of all the parts I have?

I'm thinking of making a wood stock from a piece of 1.5 inch plank, using the resin stock as a reference. Has this been done and is there a tutorial somewhere?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

    Re: Official ROTJ Blaster Thread

I made my stock using 1/2" sheets of basswood laminated together (I shoulda used 5/8", but my hobby store didn't have it), then cut the overall shape and sanded the bejezus out of it...

The stock bracket is made of 3 layers of 1/8" plastic "wet floor" caution sign laminated as well.

Wow great job! And thanks for sharing. Now I'm definitely gonna give it a go.

I too want to attempt remaking the stock bracket. Mind sharing how to make the piece that holds the trigger? Did you have professional help of did you just clamp a piece of plastic to the old vise and start filing away?

Why would you wanna use rubber grips when you can use something 99% like the actual tracks used on the movie prop?

Click on the following link (or my sig, if it's working) to get some info:
