Official Jet Pack Waist Strap Buckle

Its hard to tell for sure without having it in hand, but that edge difference on the right in the pictures (the black curves up sharply to a narrow flat edge, where the green MOM one has a small step) looks to me as if the part was just shaven down at the end to produce that straight line. If you cut down that part of the black one, the step would be left, and it should be just as wide because is slopes up and is wider at the base. Hard to explain but hopefully that makes a little sense.

I scored the correct US divers pack buckle for my JP harness off eBay for $10!!!

Do a search for "US Divers Pack" on eBay, I don't think they pop up too often though, I got lucky and found this one last week by accident on a whim search.

I found out from Rouge Studios there are long and short versions of the buckle, you want the short one like in my pic.

Here is where this buckle is used on the JP harness in case you are unsure. Image 59 or 60 on the online CD.

It might just be me, but it looks like the actual diver buckle used was trimmed down. The edges of the buckle look rough like they've been cut into. I dunno...

The trimming you see is actually metal tape they put on it and painted it green.

So the buckle is coverd with foil tape, and painted green? I thought it looked grey, it looks like a really pale green then, a lot lighter then the ESB bucket green. Any recomndations on color?

I scored the same thing, just even better....TWO scuba packs (one of them is US DIVERS, with the buckle I was looking for), link is for reference only:

:IMAGE MISSING, POSTING SOON:

I could save the other pack to actually go SCUBA diving, with the US DIVERS one, I don't know what to do with it now, cause I removed the buckle from it....probably I could re-sell it on Ebay.

Now, can Lee, Ego or Lynn post the actual measurements of this buckle? Mine is just like Ego's (with grove in the back), my buckle measures 2 3/4" long (horizontal, buckle front), 2 3/16" width (vertical).

Robert, can you post a pic of the buckle you got? I saw that same auction and asked for him to send pics of the buckle. From the pics I got back from him, it was the wrong buckle (it was a lot longer). If you did score the right one, congrats on getting it for only $10 plus shipping.

Actually, I told him to send me the pics of the buckle as well, but never sent them, either way, I couldn't miss that opportunity and I won the auction. I'll be posting the pics sometime during the week, when I'm off from work...promised...!

Here's pictures of the two U.S. Divers buckles I acquired. One is stamped "US DIVERS CO" and the other is plain. Note that the cuts for the strapping is different from each other. As to which one is the exact one used on the movie harness, we may never know.

Unless, of course, one of us hits the lotto jackpot, and BUYS one of the original suit displays (if they would even be sold, which is pretty unlikely already).

Hey BF, wouldnt be interested in dropping one of those buckels would you?

At the moment, no. Finding one was tough, but finding two was even tougher, and I'm not sure which one I am going to use at the moment. When I'm ready to empty out my prop drawer, I'll keep you in mind. ;)

Yeah, finding these buckles can be tough. Check out your local scuba shops for buckles too. I found three of them here in Nebraska of all places! Two are the US Diver version and the third was the version with the one slit on the back and no writing on the buckle flap. I just got plain lucky. The guy I got them from had been diving for over 30 years, and he was phasing those particular buckles out of his inventory. Then I found a supplier for the JP harness webbing. Slowly, but surely my harness will come together. :)

Sorry, I forgot to post pics of my buckles here, but anyways, mine is really close to the one to the left (one with the little grove in the back), that also has the "US Divers CO" in the buckle front. But somehow mine is lightly different from the one pictured...but not sure...going back to this one now and let you know tonight. The thing is that mine is just like the one Ego has...exactly the same one.

I think and my theory is that the one used in the movies is the one to the right, that has no logos at all, to simplify the process of covering the markings or brand on the buckle.

I was lucky enough to obtain a us divers harness with 2 of the buckles on it! Each of them have 'U.S. DIVERS CO' stamped on the front and I was wondering if it was ever determined if the one on the real fett suit had painted tape covering the front of the buckle or not? If so, any ideas on what color or what tape? same as the helmet perhaps? If it wasn't painted does anyone have a suggestion for a good way to remove/hide the lettering?

Hey Lynn,

If you happen upon another lower Jet Pack belt w/ buckle, like the one you have, pm me cause I'd be interested in buying it. Thanks! :D
