Hello everyone. I have always love the Boba Fett character and now I have decided to build my own suit. But I have no clue were to start. And when I look at this awesome site I get a little confused. I just need some advice to get me started. I have been looking at Bobamakers stuff. It looks like he makes really nice costumes.

Start where ever you feel comfortable man. Many people start with the helmet, some start with the armor. Bobamaker makes some great stuff, and there are some other great vendors of Fett stuff also, you'll find there seems to be a specialist for different items. There are your armor guys, that do armor/ gauntlets/ jet packs etc... helmet guys that specialize in some great buckets, and soft part guys that rock at flight suits, vests, gloves, ammo belts and boots (Bobamaker is one of the few that does it all). The site is full of great info, from templates to tutorials and quality vendors, just do a little searching and you are bound to find everything you need somewhere here on TDH. Good luck with your build!!

A good place to start is a helmet or blaster. You'll have something cool you can display or play with.

Don't get hung up about doing everything at once. Its a complexed costume that will make your head spin if you don't do it in bite size chunks.

I agree with Armydad, start with where ever you feel comfortable. For my scratch build I started with the armor since it's easier and allowed me to get experience working with the materials before attempting to make the helmet. I would just start sifting through the templates and tutorials too see what looks like a good place to start for you. Good luck!

Thank you all for the advices, was really happy that so many replied :). I made the misstake that you talked about full metal fett. I started to look at all the parts and got dizzy and little afraid to start the build.

What do you guys think. I have seen that many at TDH have made more then one costume. And I could understand why and those guys really have the patience to do it. And I probably won't have that discipline. So my question is. Is it worth paying over 6000 USD to get right the first time or is it more fun to have a suit made by yourself but maybe ending up making more then one suit? I am just little worried that if I buy the whole costume at once it won't feel good? I don't know??? Have you guys though about this?

Another thing. How bad is the Suprem Edition Boba Fett from Rubies compared to a build from a pro on TDH? I have not seen a Rubi costume in real life but it don't look that great. But is it a suit that worth taking parts from?

You'd be better off doing one costume and doing it right in my opinion. Gotta be what's right for you though.
As far as the rubies? Save your money for something else. No comparison to doing it right. There's been a few go down that road, to only keep a few parts from the entire thing, replacing the majority of items one by one.

There is definitely a huge level of satisfaction building your suit, but then again not everyone has the time or patience to do it themselves, just remember, Fett takes time, dont rush it. Step by step, piece by piece man, building a Fett is a journey not a race.

Also a newbie to this site! :) after seeing the Rubies in a costume shop and how it looked I decided on making my own! This site is great and I have so many pages bookmarked and spoke to so many people who make armour that I'm slowly but surely getting pieces together ready to paint up so I'm very thankful for this page an people like Raf that are spilling out all that Boba brain knowledge out onto the internet.

Thanks again for the input. We all love Boba Fett. But the big question. Is this costume building worth it? Have you sometimes regret starting the journey?

You have to decide what the final goal is going to be. If 501st is the goal than do not waste the money on a rubies. Fett is a labor of love. There are parts that you can scratch build easily there are parts that are best to buy and then paint up. It all depends on what you feel you can do. I started out just wanting to have a fun costume but ended up going for 501st instead. I have done 10 events since completing my gear in June and love every time someone is excited to see Boba. Like any major project it takes, time, resources, and dedication. Enjoy the journey and as always ask for help. This group of Fett heads is the best. I attached a pic from the last event I did.
