New Boba ammo pouch, finished and ready!

Re: My new Boba ammo pouch, Vinyl and leather prototypes inside

I have thought that the belt itself strongly resembled a police duty belt (gun belt). These come in a standard height of 2-1/4". The stitching, depending on the manufacturer, is pretty consistant with Fett's belt. Also, look at the holes punched out for the double buckle. Hmmm, add some brass grommets and do they look familiar?

This being said (and shown), I don't think that pouches at or under four inches in height is unrealistic.

Re: My new Boba ammo pouch, Vinyl and leather prototypes ins

I think I'm pretty sold on the measurements of the pouches being 3 1/4" high, and the belt being 2 3/4" high as well. The only thing that has me ticked is that my "old" version MP belt had pouches of that height, and I sold it for the "new more accurate" version.

I can't wait to get this part of the suit completely, and 100% nailed. It's the only thing throwing my suit out of proportion now.

Boy, talk about a BIG difference! Here's a paper prototype, using the latest, AND FINAL measurements! The only possible way to make a more accurate adjustment, would be to hold the real deal in my hand, and measure the sucker!
you'll notice the previous "monster" paper attempt.
Looks like I am all ready to start making some pouches!
Notice the paper "belt" as well.

The ESB guys will like this next one. How'd the snap size look?

Re: New Boba ammo pouch, New measurements and pictures!

OK, so what are the final dimensions?

Originally thought to be 4.5 (height) X 1.85 (depth, width) inches

Now 3.25 (height) X ?. the picture comparison appears that the width is smaller on the new final version.

I think the smaller pouch appears more accurate. Unfortunately, I can offer you no definitive size as I do not know how to use this thing (computer) that well yet. However the amount cropped off the upper side tip appears to be to much. Near as I can tell your angle is correct. I keep coming up with 70 degrees via the old trusty protractor on CD print outs and yours. But I think you took to much off the top.

    Side shot:

    Otherwise very impressive work.

Re: New Boba ammo pouch, New measurements and pictures!

Well, the new height does seem insanley small, but there's no mistaking the size, with such great reference to base it on. Mr. Fett got to hold my last leather prototype yesterday (the 4.5"), and he thought they were pretty large, compared to what he had remembered them looking like, from MOM.
I hope to maye have an entire belt finished today or tomorrow, with the "final" measurements.

The new size looks a lot better than before! I love the addition of the snaps to the underside.Your work on this is astounding SC,and it is really coming together fantastic.I can hardly wait to see an entirely finished belt w/pouches around your waist for the final judgement eventhough I'm sure it'll be the best ever done. BTW,I think that the painted vinyl is really going to be the choice for the most authentic looking,.....I know it'll be my choice now

Personally, I like the look of the leather better but, to have those snaps show thru, methinks you gotta go vinyl.

Man, this is about the 10th time I've changed my mind on which I like better!

Lookie lookie...ESB belt, in the works! This is with the FINAL measurements. Leather with fake stitching.

OK, now for the unaltered picts..

I'll have to work on at least one vinyl pouch tomorrow.

Looks great!!!!! Wish I had a means of putting mine on a diet to slim them up a little. I like the stamped stitching. You cant even tell. Looking forward to seeing your vinyl project pics.

And here it is! Finished, except the actual pouches will have a slightly darker shade of brown.

Sith-C: SWEEEEeeeet. You gave it your Awl (no pun intended). Now did you use the 1.58 for width and depth or a variation? What did you use for the brown color on the vinyl? Ive been told by other board members that spray paint will hold as well as another option. Great job man.

SC,I just sent you an email with an ESB pic I want you to check out.

I think this last prototype of the vinyl is the closest yet!

Re: New Boba ammo pouch, finished and ready!

Yep, can't possibly get any closer at this point. Just darker in color. Not to mention, as Tyler told me, less grain, and smaller stitching!
But I am offering both vinyl, and leather (for the real men!).
Being that these are so darn tiny, I don't think I'm I'm going to try for a functioning set. I just don't see the flap holding that shape, if it can open.

Re: New Boba ammo pouch, finished and ready!

You know.....now that the pouches are actually much smaller, I wonder if the thread on my sewing machine may pass. Hmm....I'll have to try it tonight. It may look alright on the vinyl, but still probably not on the leather.
Seriously though, if there are any interested parties, just shoot me a PM.

Finally, the belts themselves. As you can see from the picture that Tyler threw together for me, there are some choices to be had with the belt.

Obviously, the middle picture speaks for itself. But as for the other 2 belts, I'm not sure which movies they belong to!

The AOSW belt is the same belt in the Boba Fett magazine's fold-out poster. The one we've come to know as the SE outfit.
