Even though it's not a 100% accurate with the belt being leather, the stitching would at least be a nice touch. Leather is so much better than Vinyl anyway. If you want we can just call it Pleather

Well, I thank you both. I'm real excited about getting these moving. I hope they are well received.

My next ventures will be flight suits and vest!

I'll definetely be "on board" for one of these for a couple o reasons. I really want screen accuracy, but on the other hand, I want my suit to be "believable". I want people to look at my suit and say, "That could be real, that could really work." or " Man, that guys suit is really realistic." (Notice how I never refer to my Fett as a "costume", but rather, a "suit"?) I think having a functional belt lends itself to that really well.
It's an unfortunate fact that what works/looks good on screen, most times does not do the same in person . Aside from having 3 kids that WILL break anything that can be broken by merely using telekinesis (lol), the realism aspect was a big factor in me going with Jeff's armor (luckily, I get both, due to his talent and attention to detail).
The devil is in the details, and I think with proper weathering you'll see more compliments than quibbling. Just my .02

That said, I can't wait for the chance to integrate this bit of realism into my suit. Sorry if I've taken up too much bandwidth with my synopsis.

I would definitely be down for one! I have a 99 cent tacos belt right now, and love it, but functionality is the one thing I said I would really want out of it.

What about inserting a thin metal on one side and magnet on the other side. You know, like a woman's wallet/handbag.

I am working on what I hope to be the final prototype of the pouch now.

I don't want to give anything away just yet. I am ahead of you guys on the pouch closure . Magnets were my first thought, but add a bit of complexity and more cost. I've come up with something that should work very well.

The new pouch should be ready for your comments in an hour or so. Get ready boys and girls. Your gonna like them! I hope.

Will you make nonfunctional ones for a lesser price for those who aren't planning to keep change for the slot machines in them?

The only thing I would say is that I'd like to see the belt be more of a chocolate brown with a little bit of red tint to it instead of the toffee color. My Taco belt came in the toffee color and I didn't the color was close at all to the real deal. Picked up some leather oil and darker polish today, but of course that tints the thread somewhat.

Would be interested in another belt when yours is perfected.

Thanks for the input, bro. Color has been a challenge. I'll be off to Tandy with prints of the original belt tomorrow to sample other dyes, again.

To answer your question, I have a Taco belt I am not going to use. I'll sell that . I'm really not interested in making non-functional pouches at this time. Cost wise, I have seen leather belts with non-functional pouches go from $150 - $200. Last year I saw someone selling a belt with functional pouches for $275 (sorry, I can't remember his name). I was thinking of pricing mine at around $210. I don't know if folks are going to find that outrageous, but to tell you the truth, I think that's a reasonable price considering the amount of labor involved.

And to repeat myself again: these belts are obviously not screen accurate However, I am trying hard to get them as close to screen "look" as possible. Hopefully I will find a good color dye tomorrow.
