Nemrod Holster for TDH Boba Fett display - Progress

You guys couldn't have started this hog wild accuracy thread when I WAS in the thralls of making a replica possible ?

Chris

I just recently acquired my original holster so I wouldn't have been much help back then. But I think I agree with what you and others have said about approaching the replica, the smart thing to do was leave more so it could be trimmed later (if need be).

Well guys... I would have been working on this earlier if someone hadn't STOLEN a holster from me... Now I am not one to name names but it starts witno G and ends with ino....

Hey waitaminute! (y)

.

I will mention this... only for the sake of having it mentioned. On the original pulce, there is a metal rod that come out below the barrel (you can see a dimple on the resin collar below the barrel on the replicas Gav made). This rod goes to the trigger mechanism and when you pull the trigger it in turn pulls the rod which pulls the release mechanism on the barrel of the pistol. If I unsrew that rod, the trigger hangs (by gravity) very low in the trigger guard when the speargun is in the holster. Yet, on the original photos, you can clearly see the Fett's trigger is pulled back, ready to fire. I wonder if that rod was left in place on the original, and a second hole was made in the bottom of the holster, or the hole for the barrel enlarged so the rod could poke out as well. The rod is VERY thin and not as long as the barrel. You don't see it in any photos... but then again.. it might not show up well.... Just food for thought.

Here is the hole in the bottom of the holster. The tip of the Pulce is 1 3/16" so I would say 1 1/4" hole would be perfect. Based on the way the Pulce sits in the holster, I would recommend not cutting the holes dead center put a bit to the outside. and a bit further back than my hole is drilled.

Thanks for that shot. Biggest size I've ever seen it in.
I also have been thinking the logo might be filled. I dont see why they would but I dont see a trace of it in any pictures. Some pictures also look like it may be been partially sanded down and that would make more sense I think.

That would be awesome if they did fill it, or got rid of the inside details !!!

I wouldn't have to pre-cast the logo detail anymore

I dunno. In all seriousness, if they wouldn't spend the time to preserve the logo, or making anything pretty, why would they have only taken the middle details out of the logo and left the triangle? It would have been more tedious to do than just sanding the whole thing off or filling for sure.

My 2 cents.

Chris

Looks filled to me too. If the actuall logo inside the triangle was still on there, I would sure think we would be able to see it in that pic S1P posted (or at least some indication of it)!! I see nuthin but the triangle outline, and that definately looks raised and flat to me!!

I always felt that the actual logo was somehow covered or messed up. I'd have a hard time believing that they would keep a logo that big on a prop that would be used on screen.

I agree it was probably messed up. But being that there is a trace of the logo still being there, I don't buy into the logo being modded in any way (with the exception of part of it being lopped off). I just don't think they would have put the time in it. If anything, I think they would have just ground it off completely.

Even with the hundred other obscure details on this suit, this is one in particular that is so easily washed out on screen that it wouldn't have ever made a difference. They would have had to do a close up on "it" for anyone to ever see that it read "Nemrod". I have the same picture, and for the time being I'm going to continue thinking that the "grain" is fuzzing it up. I had very similar results (the logo detail disappearing) when I took a hundred pictures of these holsters in different lighting and some at very low light with a cell phone. I've still got 'em somewhere I think. But I'll likely forget in 10 minutes when I get back to thinking about what I still have left to do

Perhaps someone could take a low light picture with say, a 2 Mpxl camera or cell phone equivalent from about 12-15 ft. away, and use digital zoom (not optical) to get a tighter shot and see what results you can come up with? Just for fun??

If we find that it is "filled" - that would just be awesome.
