Need help

Hey so I have a questions if someone is certain and could answer. I am speaking of ROTJ.

-Some photos there is red in the center of the thruster and in other photos there is not. I see most people do not have the red in the center of the thruster. Can someone explain this.

There were three different jet packs used during the filming of RoTJ. I'll post pictures of them later, but they all look different.

As you can see one is clearly red but the other could be red but the lighting not showing it. Any more you have would be ideal.

Ok you have two of the three jet packs displayed. These pics are complements of MLS or from the TDH vaults.

Jetpack two

Jetpack three

For comparison purposes here is RoTJ SE as seen from the rear. Notice the thrusters are the same but the beacon is different. This is the same picture you also linked twice. Look at the weathering on the center of the back part of the jetpack...that's the dead giveaway.

Now this is my understanding...those that KNOW I am incorrect please state so and correct me.
Jetpack one was used supposedly in most of the RoTJ scenes where Boba Fett was in Jaba's palace or on Jaba's barge. Jetpack two was the stunt jetpack, made of foam, and used in the stunt shots like when he falls down the sarlac pit or hit the barge. Jetpack three was used on all the desert skiff scenes where Luke started carving out Jaba's henchmen. This gets interesting and explains some of the weird camera shots used to hide the exploded damage in the middle of the jet pack. Jetpack four (which is the RoTJ SE jetpack) was used for digitally inserted shots of Boba Fett in Jaba's palace which there were quite a few.

Thanks Crum, I'm certain both were used and both are acceptable. What would have been ideal is a screenshot with both styles. It seems it would be better to have the red considering actual on screen photos have the red.

I'm thinking I may add it for no other reason than to satisfy my own need to look like the on screen shots.

Thanks for all this information.

Any other opinions?

What I am taking from all of this is the only Jetpack scenes visual from he movie have the red so realistically we should have it.

If you are a SE then you should not have the red.

There are no definitive screenshots from the movie where you can see accurately the red dot in the center of the jetpack thrusters. The red dot comes mainly from Jetpack one which tours with the Boba Fett costume and was worn in about 60% of the movie shots of Boba Fett in RoTJ. 35% was the blown out jetpack (jetpack three) and 5% the jetpack two option. I personally do not have my jetpack thrusters have the center red dot as I wanted my suit modeled after the skiff RoTJ fight scenes (I also have a pure silver beacon).

So no red on the S/E JetPack ?

I would have no red personally on the SE jetpack but if you are seeking 501st approval I suggest contacting @Major here on this forum to get his opinion.

Jetpack 1 is not the ROTJ Hero, but it is Promo #2 (or Sandy) and was never (?) screen used.

This is one of the stunt jetpacks, more exactly the one used when Boba Fett flies in the background then hit the skiffs side just before he is served to the mighty Sarlacc (you already said this a bit below):

This jetpack is one of the 2 used in the scene before Han Solo hits Boba Fett's jetpack and sent him away (you also partially said this below). Here are some images of the jetpacks:

Actually the ROTJ SE pack IS the ROTJ Hero jetpack (or known as Promo #1 in the ESB era). After ROTJ this pack was used only in the ROTJ SE promo shots, as in the move (ROTJ SE) they used (for no particular reason) one of the damaged jetpacks.
