Neckseal / Back of Head Exposed Issue

    Hi Hunters,

Just wanted to post a question with regards to my above post title. After my first Con as Fett, I noticed that in my pics, with the way my BM helm sits on my head, the bottom back of my head/hair is exposed, as is having my neckseal [generic, until i get a real one] sag and expose more of my neck.

Any temporary ideas/advice or solutions? Or will i have to stick with buying a balacalava to wear inside my helm and reinforcing my neckseal to stand straight?

Also, has anyone done up the 'proper' headwear used in the movies?

Any advice, ideas and solutions would be most appreciated.

    Stay safe,

    Tim.

I really think the only way to avoid that problem is using a balaclava...

I also think you wear the helmet tooo high (I may be wrong, but that is my first impression).

A standard off white or grey balaclava can do the job easily...

And about the proper balaclava used in the movie... I personally havent seen anyone, but I will make mine for sure . when I get the correct fabric and get some time.

    Ben.

You are after a skin burns one, which is ironically fire retardant. Its the type that firefighters use to avoid heat burns, and also what the hospitals use for severe burns to the head. It breathes well and doesnt cause too much sweat. and has the face completely exposed from the hairline to just underneath the chin.

    Im sure you'll find one...

or you could attach some elastic to the helmet and sew in some fabric hooks and loops to the elastic and the seal to hold it up, and it would keep the helmet from falling off too...

I also agree that your bucket may be sitting too high on your head. Have kind of the opposite problem as no-neck Fett's- too much neck Fett

I don't think your helmet is sitting too high...in fact, I think you are one of the few who have the correct neck portion showing!!!! Yeah, I think you might need to go with the balclvava thingy. You already have one of the most accurate looking Fetts i've seen....might as well keep going!!! I think the rest of the head gear would solve all your problems. I plan on going that route eventually.

Im assuming this is how they handled it originally.

Also, does it appear that the padding is on the suit and not the helmet?

i do actually have an accurate don bies bonnet...

but i don't wear it often. usually i use a black balaclava. but i must have a shorter head or something, since i don't get much sticking out.

Thanks Hunters, appreciate the feedback and advice.

Question, what does the Fireman's Hood look like? Is it similar to the nomex balaclava used by the military? I have 2 that are like that, with 'bibs' that allow it to be held down while tucked in.

TK7602, bro, where did you get your bonnet from? Please LMK.

Please do LMK, and pics would help immensly! Gracias!

    Stay safe,

    Tim.

Thanks Brian, would you happen to have some closeups of the bonnet? If all else fails, I'm gonna see if my tailor can pull it off...she already did a nice jumpsuit as is.

    Thanks again!

    Stay safe,

    Tim.

Well, I WAS going to post a pic from the BF reference CD (PP1 - B-W 04), but TDH has extraordinarily small size limits for uploaded photos. So, I'll explain...The balaclava has an extra piece that goes under the chin. It is a balaclava and neckseal in one with an additional piece of material that goes under the chin and attaches via velcro to the underside of the bucket around the inside edge.

I plan on getting a piece of spandex that is the same color as the neckseal and using velcro to attach it to the inside of the neck seal and then velcro it to the inside of the bucket around the lip as in the reference photo. That way, no one can see my chin and the bucket appears sealed, but it is still breathable due to the spandex

    t5541,

Thanks for the revival of this old post and the thought bro, but I managed to get this all sorted out...first, with a stiffened neckseal and then with the real 'tackle twill' neckseal. No more neck exposure. Thanks though!

    Here's a pic of it...
