My ROTJ Jet Pack Scratch Template

Corrose

Active Hunter
I couldn't find where this has been done already but Ive been getting ready to repaint my ROTJ pack. I decided to start building stencils in vector for the really nasty, complicated parts based off of C4 Photos. In this case the piece running down the middle of the pack, below the rocket.

Just wanted to post to see if anyone wanted me to share these as I build them.
I have spent many hours painstakingly re-drawing each detail the best I can, and while I'm not claiming it's 100% accurate, I still think I captured the detail well and I'll be using it on my own pack.

My scale is setup for my MLC pack so it may not match other sculpts perfectly. However it is built in Illustrator CS3 so there is room to scale the art a little.

If there is any interest in posting the .ai file, I will do so.

Comments are welcome.

Thanks!

Decided to tackle the yellow area below the rocket where the black ring is.
The pack is so large and there's so many nooks and crannies that's why I'm doing the template in sections so its easier to stencil a section at a time.

Wow thanks for the compliment.

Yeah I'm slowly doing a part at a time on the pack so it may be a bit before I have all the templates finished. Each small section can take anywhere from 2-6 hours to create depending on the details.

In the meantime I can send you templates that I have previously posted.
I built them in illustrator based on measurements Im taking off my MLC. So if you have Illustrator you can stretch/resize the file to fit your measurements. I doubt many of the well known packs are that different size, so any adjustments may be minor.

If you aren't familiar with vector graphics, you can resize/stretch them to fit your needs and the quality always stays the same.

Also as I start building pieces that connect to each other, I'll post them together in one big flat layout...kind of like putting a puzzle together.

Thanks again for the feedback, that's what will help me stay motivated to finish this project!

Yeah I didn't think about exporting those as .PDF files. Good call.
If folks think the quality is there I would be happy to drop the final files into a standard template if it's well received.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm slowly chipping away at it. Keep your eyes peeled for progress!

Also if you post PDFs of these, use a white background so people can print them out at 1:1 scale and not kill their black ink cartridge. Again, great work.

Chris these are excellent mate if you can get them into a PDF file they would be superb, and help us all out who are painting rotj packs. Keep going mate and get the files into PDF and uploaded onto here in a thread so we can all grab them.

Very nice, great work you are doing, if you can get these converted to PDF and in B&W it will help many people that are doing ROTJ packs.

What do you guys prefer?

I can start putting these up as downloadable PDFs as I do them so people can start downloading?

The only thing with that is for example, I posted the original blue spine image and it wasn't until I built the sides did I catch a tiny error on the main part.

I'd prefer to offer downloadable pieces that I'm confident are accurate after catching little adjustments here and there.

Any thoughts?

These are pretty awesome and I know they are quite a pain to make. If you need any help, I would love to offer up some assistance in building these composites.
PM me if you want someone to share the work load with.

Hey again love what your doing!! A great step for ROTJ Fetts. I agree with you that the best idea is to post them up once you feel comfortable with them. The ones you did post earlier were pretty spot on, I can't imagine what you missed LOL. Kepp up the good work!
Cheers!
