MY ROTJ Fett build WIP

I havent decided that part yet. It will be a mixture of colors and mediums. The best results i have seen come from a mixture of airbrush, different grits of sand paper/steel wool, and chalk or pastels( i need to do a little more research). Flat black mist will be part of it. I will be practicing som methods on a test piece before I move to that phase on this armor. For my custom Mando, i basically sprayed it wil black spray paint and then wiped it off and it did the job well enough for that costume but I really want to kick my skills up a notch on this and do the best i possibly can. So far i have painted both knees 2 times and the shoulders a couple times as well completely sanding down to the plastic each time. I am sure some of these other parts will get repainted or swapped out eventually as my skills improve. A costume is never finished, either repairs or upgrades.

Here is the majority of armor parts pre final weathering.

Made some progress today,
weathered the shoulders

Weathered chest, and sealed with clear matte.

and started mocking up my gauntlets before paint

The weathered parts looks really good! Just a small comment regarding the right gauntlet: you should position the small white piece to be parallel with the gauntlet darts.

Keep up the great work!

That is my goal. The white part is held in place with painters tape on the inside. I am still working on getting the fight to be just right. Thank you for the compliment.

Just did some more weathering/sealing/painting.
Please let me know your thoughts. Id like to be able to mark some of these parts done as I move on to the remaining parts. For color comparison, the parts are outside and on a OD green shelter half. I really hope to get this paint right with my limited skills at such a precise paint up. I really appreciate the feedback.

cod and collar- painted, weathered, sealed.

Looks great, man!!

Couple questions: What method are you using for weathering? How are you getting that fine scratch detail? I really like the cod, collar and shoulders. The right chest weathering looks slightly smudged in comparison. You can clearly see the direction of the weathering. Splatter looks good though!

Thanks, the weathering is a mix of techniques, black spray paint mist, charcoal, sand paper, x-acto blade, fingernails.
here is an update for gauntlets

I lightly sanded the Silver layer because it has a clear coat in it or something that makes it real smooth but only on the areas not getting masked off.

Looking good man. Got my parts on order so I'm a few months behind you. Been kind of a fett-head since elementary school.
BTW, thank you for your service! My middle child is in the service and we are very proud of him.

Here is a very initial test fitting. Plates will be adjusted, weathering will be added, etc. I was working on attachment method and really wanted to get a pic with what i had on just to see how it looked. The black spot over the chest plate is part of the wiring for the display that hasn't been routed yet.

Hey man. Looks good! Only thing I would do is try to move your chest pieces up. This not only closes the gap to your collar, but won't allow your abdominal plate to hang below your vest.

I agree with DP! The collar's position is perfect, but you should move the back plate higher, which means that you must cut from the upper tabs to have a perfect fit. The chest plates are also in an outward position: the lower tabs of the chest plates should connect with the abdominal plate tabs.
