Aug 19, 2007, 11:24 PM - My FP ROTJ Armor WIP Paintwork #1

    Hi Hunters,

Well, this is my first post of the work done on my FP armor since I first got it awhiles back. [Thanks Chris! ]

I've always wanted to be involved with every part of my Suit's buildup so I took a big step in painting my own armor, using the masking method after reading and learning from the paint gurus here.

Oh and all this was done with Tamiya Spray Paint Cans [with some paint color advice from KidAkira, gracias bro!] as I don't own an Airbrush...yet.

The paintwork is basically done, right now, I need to work on the dullcoating, weathering, scratches, misting and the damaged layer that I missed out on the AB plate [i'll have to go topical with this, short of stripping and redoing it].

Again, this is my first ever paintjob, so be kind.

    So, here we go..

Big thanks to all the Paint Guru's here with the loads of advice and helpful suggestions!

    Stay safe,

    Tim.

    Lookin' good man!
You'll be surprised how much the appearance changes once you weather it and dull it down.

Great start there, Tim. The only thing that jumps out at me is the yellow shoulders/knees. It might just be the flash, but your yellow could use a light misting of orange.

Really looking good. A little orange mist on the knees and shoulders as mentioned will give it the correct hue. Also be sure to set the black splatters on the armor as part of the weathering. Great job.

Apologies bro, yes, I will cut and reshape it. In fact, I had it done over the weekend.

And did some Armor misting/weathering: [The Flash washes out alot of the work..]

My Knees: [With Brillant Orange sprayed on]
    With Flash:

    Without:

My Gauntlets: [Still needs to be weathered...]
    With Flash:

Question Hunters, any tool recommendation on making some major scratches? Please do LMK and thanks!

Thanks again Hunters for the good word!

    Stay safe,

    Tim.

Very good weathering! The armor is looking really good. Once you have all the weathering and damage how you like it, then be sure to seal it with dullcote. The dullcote sealer will dull sown the colors and blend them together.

The real suit is very dull and looks almost dusty.

Guess what bro, I totally forgot I had a 4 piece set in my Reserves Thigh Rig. Was shifting through my gear, restocking, rearranging em etc and voila! they they were. Remembered that I bought em for working the front sight of my rifle during the ranges we had. Saved some money there...

Thanks again bro! Time to scratch my armor!
