My prototype silicon Toe Spikes

Well, I have found what I believe is a good combination to make some durable, flexible and nice toe spikes. My aluminium toe spikes were always falling off whenever I had to climb stairs or walk on uneven terrain... eventually I lost 2 spikes and decided that I was gonna make my own. Made a mold from a part I have found and cast this with silicon. Here is the result painted (not yet weathered). My spikes are installed on a strip of aluminium.

Let me know what you guys think!

Good idea!!!! I bet those will be pretty trooping friendly!!! I know I've accidentally jabbed people in the ankle before with my alum ones, so those rubber ones would be great for avoiding that!!!

I'll be testing them out this weekend in a small convention in my area. I'll let you guys know how they hold up! ;)

I will be offering set for sale very shortly.

I believe that the aluminium strip is necessary to have the proper look but I might try your suggestion thought... I also might include some aluminium strips in future runs. A complete kit would most probably be also available.

Well, little update, the spikes did hold up perfectly during the whole weekend. No tears in the paint and no spike loss. Also, the boots were more confortable to walk with than when I had my aluminium spikes.

I'll make a run next week and post in the Cargo Hold when ready.
