Feb 3, 2004, 11:05 PM - My Prop Palace Suit (now dyed - ROTJ) #1

Well, alot of you have read my post about my TAN PP suit.

I have recently dyed it and had quite abit of an adventure.

    here goes:

This is the suit when I got it. Shocking, huh? Keep in mind I was assured a 100% color match.

This is after being washed with 3 boxes of RIT COLOR REMOVER (which turned it banana yellow) and then washed with bleach and then 3 more boxes of RIT Color Remover.

This is with 2 boxes of RIT PEARL GREY DYE and 30 minutes in the washing machine. I also threw in my spats and white gloves from Parade Store. They all came out great!

This gives you a better view of the color. Keep in mind that it is NOT weathered AT ALL...YET!

BOTTOM LINE - I was lucky!!!!
While I most likey would NOT give PP my business in the future, I am VERY happy with the results, and can't wait to finish and make my first appearance.

Thank you all for all of your patience and help.
    You guys are the BEST!

What color did you order? I hope that is not supposed to be grayuke If it is they need to have there eyes checked.

Wow, that worked out for you! I was wondering when we'd see your suit dyed, and it looked like you got what you wanted. I'd send the new pic to the PP to show them exactly what you wanted, and exactly what they didn't give you.

Nice work, man! Now let's see it weathered!

As I've read through TDH, the one propmaker that seems to have the most complaints (by far) is the Prop Palace. I've never ordered anything from them myself, and I'm sure everyone's experiences will vary, but it seems quite predictable that anyone who orders from the Prop Palace will have one or more of these same problems.

With so many proven and trusted propmakers in our costuming community - and we all know who they are - why are some of us still taking the risk on those who constantly fall short? I don't mean disrespect to anyone, of course. I just don't understand how some places (or palaces) are still getting our costuming business.

<font size='1' face='Verdana'>Admins: This might not be the best place for this post, but it follows directly from Jedi-Bob's jumpsuit experience described above.

I think it turned out great. Looks like you got the colors dead on. Big change from when you first got it. Now just get it dirty. Keep us posted.

I tried color remover 3 boxes and bleach solutions.Nothing,I mean nothing changed or lightened the color at all.Eventually
I sold it on ebay. But I'm glad it worked out for ya!

Jedi-Bob ... Can you post a small tutorial on solving this issue with the bleaching and dying. Your results are outstanding.

Here's my 10-second tutorial on solving this apparently common problem:
STOP BUYING JUNK FROM THE PROP PALACE! (no offense)

No offenc taken, BUT I would not go so far as to use the junk. I firmy stand behind the workmanship that wqent into making this suit. The color was the ONLY complaint. Now I speak just for myself and my transaction. I know there are those of you that unfortunately got screwed and that pisses me off. I don;t know how my wife put up with me while this whole jumpsuit/Prop Palace fiasco was going on, but I assure you...the jumpsuit I have is NOT junk.

Would I buy from them again.....No!
Don't think I am defending them.
I wouldn't wish what I went through on anyone.

Sounds like I misspoke, Jedi-Bob! I guess "junk" was the wrong word, since most of the Prop Palace complaints I've read have more to do with slow turnaround, unfulfilled orders, and missing money than poor workmanship. I don't think I'll ever order from the Prop Palace, but quality workmanship still goes a long way in their favor.

To reiterate what the others have said, it looks like you did a tremendous job turning that into a great Boba jumpsuit! It goes to show that almost anything can be improved with a little effort and patience.

Let me tell you, Peter from Prop Palace screwed me out of &#36;389.00, but the owners Out World Productions was able to help me cancel the order and get the refund. Also, Out World Productions just gave the BONDED RIGHTS to sell the same products Prop Palace had to a company called Star Fortress Productions. I've re-placed my order through a guy named Anton at SFP, and it looks to be a legit order. If and when I receive it, which I believe I will, I will let you all know and you will all be able to get quality costuming products again without the Prop Palace fiasco!

Dude, your jumpsuit came out great! I love your boots too!

Thanks John. I am glad your situation has a possible good outcome.
    Thanks for the compliments
It is always nice to get positive feedback (or any feedback) with such a time consuming (and aggravating) project such as this.

    The boots are Mark Chengs.

Also, I told Anton at Star Fortress Productions that the members of TDH and 501st Legion are always looking for quality products, and that I would pass the word about him to all of you. He wants as badly as all of us for the Prop Palace crap to go away. He wants your business, so after I get my stuff and give the all clear, please give him your business. He's not Prop Palace, though he is from the Philippines. If you do place an order with him, he wants you to mention my name John Barrows, Jr. or just TK-1776. But wait until I get my stuff and I'm sure things are on the up + up, okay? Thanks!
