i'm gonna bump this back to the top and ask if you might have scalable patterns for the cover.

    Sorry SN

the fabric was just layed and glued as i went. It kinda overlaps itself and the joints are hidden by the 'shoe lace' seams.

I must admit i did have a bit of a problem at the Norwich Sci Fi convention where the heel of my right boot came loose but a little epoxy resin sorted that out and it has been good ever since (lasted the whole days trooping of nearly 7 hours without a murmur )

    2 questions:
How did you get your sole to be 'flat'? Did you just cut the heel off? Of so, Don't you find yourself tilting backwards?

Because of how you made the mouth /tongue area, does your foot slide around (in and out)?

    Thanks!

For the first question, you can see post 21 in this thread. They were the sole from a pair of flip flops.

    Re: my 'new' boots

ok gotcha. Does that mean you removed the sole of the work boot and added the new sole?
If so, WOW - nice work!

you got it. You take one very sharp knife and cut the sole off the work boot (around the outside of the sole if that makes sense). If you leave about 0.5 - 1.0mm of rubber on the boot, it makes it easier to attach the flip flop sole (use very strong glue - JB Weld works well)

OK, giving a necro bump because you deserve it since this is an amazing scratch-boot thread, may very well have to use this for when I get to that step!

    Thanks for the ingenuity!

    Re: my 'new' boots

    Hi there Ronin,
Just having a look about for ideas on scratch-built boots and came across your post. I originally though this was gonna be the same as the usual 'work-boot-into-boba-boot' idea but the finished item looks great!! Really good job! I bought myself some Clarks Wallabees (the sole looks the same to me!!) so I'm gonna scratch build using them as a base, I'll be taking photos of progress to post - but wish I'd seen your tutorial first. Either way I think I'll be taking tips from your post anyway, I was getting all worked up about finding shoe lasts and templates and patterns but I'm just gonna throw myself in at the deep end and glue the fabric straight to them as you did (I was thinking the stitching was gonna be a nightmare!) Being on the same side of the pond as you, where did you get the fabric glue from?
