My First Build!

OK. FINALLY got to work today. Myself and another TDH member called LittleBitz worked on my build today. His build was completed a few months ago and looks OUTSTANDING. Huge thanks to him for everything.
Shopping for the supplies took us longer than I thought..and we ended up having to go to three stores to get everything. Also, the armor I ordered had a few issues..so luckily LittleBitz was able to trade me a few pieces of some spare armor he had. We also got into some weathering. We're going to be moving along every week and I'll post pics throughout the process! Anyway..

We started off with a little shopping for Maskol, an exacto knife, masking tape, sand paper, steel wool, paints, and everything else we need.

Here's some of my paint..we needed to go to a couple stores to get all the right colors.

Next we got into sanding everything (you can see LittleBitz' completed armor)

After sanding, we wiped everything down with alcohol and laid down the primer.

While we waited for that to dry, we got into weathering my boots, gloves, and cape. We also got the first layer of paint on my shin tools.

We're going to get the armor painted and hopefully finished this week, and then start on the helmet while working on other stuff. Hoping to get this build finished by summer !
Here's what we managed to get done today.

more to come soon !

If you're looking to get rid of the cape I may be interested, also what was the problem with the etsy blaster? Bad quality?

Yeah I have no need for the cape. Shoot me a pm if interested.

The etsy blaster was a modded hasbro toy.....so its too small and just doesnt look good : /
so I ordered a blaster kit from MLS.

PM inbound.....Sorry about your hasbro blaster thats a bummer =[ But you live and learn right? We've all been there at one point or another.

Yeah I'm not sure either, I needed back, kidney, knee, and cod. He had someone else the needed the rest. Maybe he will find someone that does not need knees. Good luck :)

Alright. So my buddy and I continued working on my build today. We finished my Shin tools and my ammo belt which I received yesterday from MOW. The belt is great, but the color was off and it needed weathering.
Also we got two coats of metallic silver on my armor, and will be completing the armor soon!

Two coats of metallic silver completed!

Shin tools JUST about done..still need to do a LITTLE more weathering on the blade.

This is the ammo belt I got from MOW. Looks great, but like I said..the color was wrong.

SO, instead of masking off the stitching and using stain..we decided we would apply primer before using paint. It looked like this. On the left is the ammo pouch before primer/paint, the right is afterwards.

We then used a sponge brush to paint the stitching. Next was dry brushing to "fade" the leather. Also we made scratches in the belt and ammo pouches.

Still a lot more work to do, but a lot of progress so far !
More to come soon!

So my knee armor, wookie braids, and girth belt arrived today !
All of my gear has been purchased except for the sidearm, sidearm holster, flight suit, vest, and pouches..which I will purchase very soon.
My MOW gauntlets have shipped and my jetpack is on order from DVH. My blaster rifle is on order from MLS : ]

More painting and other work will be happening monday : ]

Here's the knee pads, wookie braids, and girth belt. The knees came painted..but I'm thinking I'll maybe have to repaint them..not sure yet.

Also going to repaint those knee pads..and it looks like I'll have a MOW studios flamethrower kit for sale too.

Man, your build is coming along great! Everything is looking cool too, glad you have a TDH guy to help you out and keep you accurate. There is a lot of how to's and scratch building tutorials on TDH that most of us enjoy and find rewarding; something about building a piece or two yourself that just makes you proud! Congrats on everything coming together, keep the pics coming.

thanks dude! yeah I'm lucky, theres no way I could pull this off on my own. I'm planning on scratch building a few minor things in the near future, and all the stuff I've ordered I've done my best to use reputable and quality vendors. My MLS blaster kit and sidearm/holster will be here in a few days, and I'm excited to build those.

Making some good progress and hoping to complete the build by june/july!
