My FIRST Armor Project!!

GeekPastor

Hunter
Well, I have begun to put together my Boba Fett Armor! This is my first try to get into costuming and hopefully into the 501st.

Thanks to WOF for the templates... The chest armor is Sterlite Garbage Can Armor and the Stomach is a piece of Sentra... By the way... I used a Dremel to cut the garbage can and it melted the can... so after I popped out the side of the can, I used a Exacto Knife to score the edges and with a little hand strength I used some wire cutters to pop out the armor!

Here's some pictures below, but i have a couple of questions...

1. Should I wait until I get the LED screen and then make the proper cut on the armor?

2. Does the vest I have seem like a good fit for the armor? Meaning do I have it positioned correctly? And once it's painted, how should I mount it? Should I wear it and then get some help?

I just need advice for my next steps... I'll be cutting the rest out next week...

PLEASE IGNORE THE JANGO BLUEPRINT SITTING ON THE TABLE it just happens to be there... it's not what I'm going for.

Good Job GeekPaster, I would move the chest pieces a little closer together so their isn't as much of a gap between them and the diamond piece. Are you doing ESB or ROTJ b.Fett? Once you get the neck armor piece in place it will be easier to tell if the rest of the armor is positioned correctly. If you tape the armor onto the vest and put it on it will also give you a better idea as to how it's gonna sit on your body.
For my ESB Fett I attached the armor using heavy duty snaps. I taped the armor in place and got my GF to mark on the vest and armor where I wanted the snaps to go. It's a pain in the neck, but once in place I know the armor isn't going to go anywhere.

Nice job! But you do realise that you cut out the Jango Fett armour templates right? Jango and Boba's armour are completely different.

WHAT?! I didn't realize that because the WOF templates said Boba/Jango... could you link me to the Boba Templates? I don't want to do any further if I messed it up.

Are you sure? Because the templates that you printed to the side of your armour is Jango Fett. Boba never had the leg or shin arnour.

Yeah, those blueprints were just from the stack of stuff I downloaded and printed, I'm not printing the Jango stuff... but the file itself said "Boba Fett".

If anyone else has 2 cents please let me know. I appreciate the good eye though GCNgamer128!

He has the Jango Fett armour, he might have opened them by mistake.

I use the WOF templates daily, I can see the different in the chest armour.

Could you send me the specific Boba Armor templates then please? The link I have from WOF says Boba Fett, but if you have specific Boba ones, I'd appreciate it...

And please don't link to that thread because that's obviously where I went wrong.

Actually I'm inclined to agree about that being Jango armor. I spotted the template beside the armor in one of the pics also.

Also, the center diamond template has the design piece in the middle of it where the Boba diamond is just a blank cutout.

It does look nice, though.

ugh...

thanks for the comment, but I want to make Boba armor.

Also the blueprints in the picture are just there for no reason, I had a stack of stuff printed from these links and it just happens to be there... it's not what I'm going for...

So is there a definitive Boba template I can use?

the only difference I can see between the two is that Jango's chest armor is a little taller and the medallion is different but your armor is looking good. did you make your vest?

It looks like you have a good bend on your stomach plate, but make sure the chest pieces mold well to your body. I've never used the garbage pale method so I don't know how well it holds a shape. One of the difference between a good and a great looking Fett is how well the armor fits you.

What the heck-now that you've started the Jango armor (albeit by an honest mistake), set what you've already cut aside and save it for a time that your Boba is finished and you can start on a Jango costume and eventually have both...I wasn't as ambitious as you, I went ahead and bought fiberglass armor so I wouldn't have to fool with the cutting of the armor. Since I've not worked with any of these templates so about the only use I can be is to tell you to trust GCN's advice, he works with the sintra (etc) daily I believe and he won't lead you astray. Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh, I do have one opinion on the matter I nearly forgot to mention. As far as the area for the digital display. I'd recommend that you wait until you get the digital workings first and then cut it to fit later. No need walking around with an empty hole in your chest...
