So the first official piece of my costume is in the works: the wookiee braids
I haven't wrapped the thread around the ends of the braid and stuff yet (they are held in place with scotch tape at the moment)
I had to redo the braids because they weren't tight enough the first time around. Check out the picture below (there is a dvd case and a 6" ruler for scale.)
They aren't done and I need to check the reference pics again before finalizing anything to make sure the lengths and what not are correct. I know they are a little off still.
I got the lengths of artificial hair from: http://www.doctoredlocks.com/catalog/Silky-Straight-Kanekalon-Braid/
I got it in natural black, platinum blonde, and dark silver white.
I made the mistake of trying to comb this stuff out. Yikes! It was better to just separate it into three groups and then braid it as tightly as possible. The black hair was the first one and it was a disaster before I rebraided it. One end is still pretty janky but that will be the part that connects under the arm so you won't see it.
Let me know what you think. I'm concerned they might be too thick. I was thinking of taking the braids apart and removing one of the three groups and then trying it again with what's left.
