My ESB Progress (Scratchmade)

Thanks for the comment Ben.

My technique wasnt all that great considering I lost the trigger on my airbrush, so I couldnt paint in the burn marks, and weathering with my AB. What I did was just grind graphite powder and use my fingers to just rub it in there to add the burn marks. Problem there is that when I add the clear coat, it soaks up most of the thinner layers of weathering, making it look plain.

Off to home depot for some proper rattlecan colors.

wow, nice work, makes me want rurning to walmart to buy a trash can ^_^ (i know it sounds silly, but that the idea right??)

MOJO FETT!!!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!

This is my third and final attempt and I am absolutely satisfied with how this looks!

It was all done with an AB, with the excemption of the yellow which is topical.

Pictures do not do this justice at all. The center piece and the right chest armor is not done yet and has not been started yet. It is being stripped of its old paint.

Thank you guys again for all the help!

Wow!
If you don't mind me saying bro... loads better than your first version? ;)
Also if it's not to late, you may wanna move your emblem a little to the right as you look at it. It's a little too close the edge (check pics) (y)

Other than that, get the remainder of the chest painted then do a complete mist with heavily thinned grime all over the them to bring it all together and take some of the white away from the emblem...

PM sent. ;)

Alright guys here is a pretty big update for me. I got the left chest piece done and all that is needed is for me to make the center piece.

that turned out great! each time I check out your thread it honestly makes me want to push myself harder and do better. seriously great job you are doing.

Thanks for the comment bud!

More progress, I got the center piece done and I added some more small details to the rest of the armor. My camera is not too great in capturing the true color, but looking at this armor in sunlight, I would say that it is pretty close to the on screen armor. The pictures, make the colors brighter than what they really are. If I had a DSLR I could cap the true color of this. For now I tried taking a picture with a longer exposure in a darker room, and the armors green looks like in real life, but the yellow around the damage looks orange..... Sigh....I spent 200+ for a camera that captures details well but not the color.

As you can see, the light in my room brings out more of a brighter green.

The center piece looks darker

Finally one color that looks true to life in this pic....the yellow :)

Now for the dark room/exposure pics with a dim fluorescent light hitting it slightly
The armor color should be a tiny hint greener in this pic but it is as accurate as I can get it. Now the over exposure time really makes the yellow look orange.

Hey Art...Buddy.... :) .... wanna trade cameras?????

Let me know what you think guys, and I am not really stressing out about this just so I can convey the message "Oh I did this paintjob 100% accurate". Because, I didn't. There are more people out there that are better than me at armor painting [cough]Gav[/cough], and quite honestly, there are some areas I would like to correct, but this armor is officially retired from repainting, etc. I am only trying to post accurate pictures of what it looks like IRL, just so I can get better input on what needs to be added...toned down...cut... trimmed... etc.

In due time some of you SD comic con-ers will see this and I can get some input then.

K rant mode off, and back to studying...

Hey bud, I think you have done a stand up job on this and with scratch built armour too... and as for the yellow (without flash) looks pretty good as my yellow looked exactly the same. (y)
I like the way you've started to put in some of the finer scratch details in too.. don't forget the right side of the ab plate (pm sent). ;)

man those different but subtle shades of green and black are just too darn awesome!!! that is some impressive painting!!
