MOW Jetpack Paint Up/ESB

well, i have been busily working on all my other parts of the costume, and have neglected the jet pack...:facepalm i have this work of beauty, made by the man, the myth, MOW, and just was really scared all this time to do it justice...(y) well, i am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now with this project, and the jet pack needed its turn...i have installed the thrusters using Christian's tutorial, sanded it down, and got the base green painted...i will continue to post up pics as i go, and if anyone has a specific rattlecan color scheme for the ESB version, ie the dark red, the yellow, to name a few, i would appreciate it...thanks for looking! :)

i am working on my MOW how are you going to hold the top rocket on? are you bolting it on?

i thought about doing the bolt method, but the rocket is hollow, and the thickness doesnt allow for a bolt to be epoxied into the rocket itself...at least that is what i saw, and couldnt think of another way to do it...so i just epoxied the rocket to the main body, so it is fixed...:D

I too will be starting on my MOW pack and need to know the same things (exact dark red and yellow colors). I'm pumped that you've been doing all your painting rattlecan style. I've never used an airbrush so it's giving me confidence that I can do it with the rattlecan technique.

My 1st question is what rattlecan color green did you use? Also, do these greeblies go on the bottom of the pack like the ROTJ pack?

Thanks bro!!! Good luck, it's looking great so far!

yes, brother, i do believe these go on the bottom...search here for the rotj jet pack, and you should find it...i have seen it, but know exactly where i have seen it...:facepalm thanks for the kind words...appreciate that!! for the green, i used the Rustoleum Spruce Green, satin, cant miss it at wal mart...(y) i then misted satin black, either Rustoleum or Krylon, in between coats, while the green was still wet to darken it up a little bit...i did this on my helmet as well...:) i just need to know what the dark red color is, and the yellow...the silver damage i am sure is universal, either aluminum or silver...:) i am doing all the damage topical, i got really good at that with my lid, i think i did anyway...

Looking good D! How did you paint the inside where the access hatch is? I used an actor with a silver sharpee to paint mine. What was his name again....Oh yes Jeremy Bulloch!!!

Esh are you doing ESB? or ROTJ.. The greeblies are on the bottom of the Prepro2 pack but not the ROTJ pack. I dont have them on mine based on a thread from here about the greeblies, that tell you where you can buy the actual parts... the thread says they do not go on ROTJ.

Edit: location of greeblies on ROTJ, on the back where you cant see them, lol

looks like rotj has a hole with a hose going into it :/

I'm doing an ESB Crystal...I just haven't seen any screen caps of the ESB pack from underneath to see if it too has the greeblies. I thought the ROTJ did but I guess I'm wrong...

I just want to be as accurate as I can be with this kind of stuff. I personally think the greeblies are pretty cool. A few simple pieces of junk make it all the better and more tech looking. One is just a XLR input and the switch looks simple enough. That store Skycraft here in Orlando has a ton of **** like this...

FettDad, thanks for the tip on the green and the tecnique you used! I'm going to be watching this thread like a hawk!(y)

As far as I can tell, that pack is looking pretty sweet there Dad!!!

About those bottom greeblies....yeah, nobody knows for sure if they are actually on the ESB pack or not????? We have no photographic evidence to either confirm or deny that they are on there. Although...that doesn't mean to say that someone doesnt have pics that prove it one way or the other...just might not be able to share at this point and time. Personally, I'm going to add the grebleis to my pack eventually cause they really look cool!! ;)

well, i have had a chance to get some more done on the pack this week...i found that the Testors "Dark Red" really came out nicely when painted on the green base...i have seen some packs with a more "redish" color to them, and then some that look more maroon...so went in between! :D i have put in the beacon and stabilizer now, so it is coming along...now, did you guys leave the beacon and stab when you misted with black at the end? just curious...(y) thanks for looking!!
