MOW Boots First Paint!

Hey all,

Been excited to test out whatever painting skills may be hidden dormant when I got my MoW boots delivered. They are not quite done yet, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion. They need some weathering done on the black parts, dirt on the soles, and overall touching up with some accents. Actually, looking back at the pic I took, it's not the best lighting either. :doh
This is my first EVER painting job on canvas....or clothing for that matter:b. I am happy so far with how they are turning out. Personally, I think they are a little dark, and nowhere near perfect....and I probably didn't use as many reference photos as I should :wacko, but I think I'll live.

I think u know what u need to do it sounds like at least get in the gallery and do work

I would add some "fraying" at the toe area and on the piping. Look at the reference photo they will help. I actually used some thinned out "beige" acrylic paint to look like my boots were worn at the front. I did that because I couldn't bear to actually take sandpaper and rub it against the canvas.

Great minds must think alike: I have actually just been working on that this morning! I ended up sanding parts of the shoe though, but it made a nice scuffed look. I also lightly sanded most of the rubber tubing so the gloss is toned down, then on the toes I sanded it and marred it so the initial coat of rubber is down to the thread base, giving continuity to the scuff marks added to the toe area on the canvas. I also finished up dirtying the sole, but I am stuck on the elastic portion, I can't get it to lighten at all :? any suggestions?

ha! funny...i JUST did mine yesterday..ill post a thread as well, unless its ok to post em here. I also used paint. I thinner out a fluid acrylic. i havent weathered them yet as im waiting for my Mojo toe spikes to show up so i can weather them all together.

Might get on mine today while waiting for helmets to dry with some acrylic as well

Nice, I need to get me a pair of these boots!
