Modified V4 armor (Covering mods and paintjob)

I got a set of this to mess with and I was going to use it for a project that fell through. So I thought I would finish it up and see what it looked like.

It's a good replica but there are quite a few areas I want to fix.
I've made some minor changes to the chest plates to get them to ESB specs but some of the other modifications I want to do might be impossible. Specifically the backplate.
I wanted to change a huge amount about that and I went full speed ahead; but now that I have it all messed up I realized I can never change it as much as I want. So I will have to see what it looks like when I fix it up. But for now I am focused on the chest.

I tweaked all but one of the dents and I moved the one on the bottom of the belly plate over to where it should be for ESB. The 3 holes on the belly are in the final stages of being cleaned up.

I also reworked the center diamond a bit. It is seen here without the silver insert which I will be making next.

The lightslots are a hair bigger that they should be proportionally to try to accommodate Fettronics excellent chestlights. I believe the FP chestplates are a bit undersized but pretty close to where they should be. But when you are dealing with areas as precise as the chestlights every little percent matters.

Those 3 holes in the belly plate are getting finished tomorrow. I just have to sand a bit of filler down.
Weeks ago I filled in the hole indicators that were in the armor and drilled new holes in the correct place and orientation.

I will update this thread when I get to the other parts. :cool

Yeah I had problems with FP's V4 chest light slots being to small for my Fetttronics. I had to move mine slightly to the left to fit my lights.

FP V4 doesn't fit with Fettronics more like.
It works. Just remember the real armor slot werent big enough to show all the segments. So you only have to cut the slots a bit bigger than they should be proportionally to the armor to get the right look. Not a big problem. I'll detail this so people can see in a few hours.
I love my Fettronics lights and he is a great guy.

Also FP no longer sells the v4. It's just FPA and has these items changed as far as location. Can't speak for the width of the slots though for the fettronics....

Ooh do tell. I haven't the slightest idea what FP has been up to these days. Are you saying this armor is basically the same as V4 but now called FPA and those small areas have been corrected?
I'd love to see some pictures. Maybe he fixed the backplate, cod and butt plate too?

Here is a goofy video I made last night to try and better show some of the things I talked about.
Please be kind and don't pick on my slur. I was shivering from the cold and just about to turn in.

I may not have made it as clear as I should have in the video but again when I say the lights will be a bit too big proportionally, it's because I personally think the FP armor might be a bit small. I think the Fettronics lights are perfect. But who knows? That's just my personal opinion.

That is correct. The V.4 has been discontinued for some time. The V.4 was designed for a specific project, and was never fully refined. As far as I was concerned it was somewhat incomplete due to time restraints 'at the time' so the plan was always to revisit some time in the future to complete it all.

The new armor, dubbed FPA simply standing for Fettpride Armor (version #'s dropped because it's my last version) is finally refined to my satisfaction for the first time in a decade. It is movie size (indeed larger than the V.4, but smaller than the V.2 and V.3 was). The light slots are accurately sized to the measurements widely accepted as screen accurate (ie; the old Brak's Buddy Tutorials / Rafalfett measurements). Re-sizing and refinements have been made to every piece of the ensemble (including backplate, cod piece, ect.) And for the first time, molds have been made for 3 specific versions in their respective entireties (Supertrooper, ESB / ROTJSE, and ROTJ). There's no longer a 'unifett' ensemble. The new armor is what my customers are already receiving / or will be receiving. Due to current time constraints as of late, I've not officially posted an introduction or accompanying pictures. But will be doing so in the very near future.

Supertrooper, ESB / ROTJSE, and ROTJ

The ESB armor is not the same with the ROTJ SE, because the ROTJ SE uses the Pre-Pro #1/Pre-Pro #2 abdominal plate. I see it more like this: Supertrooper (without dents), ESB/Pre-Pro #3/ROTJ (with the dents on the abdominal plate more closer to each other, except the fact that the ROTJ Hero has a dent on the right chest plate too) and the Pre-Pro #1/ROTJ SE (with the dents on the abdominal plate positioned further away to each other). The dents on the other parts of the armors are pretty much in the same place (with minor differences on all the mentioned suits). Here are some images from my The Fate Of The Twin Armors: Pre-Pro #1, Pre-Pro #3 and ESB thread:

My statement was referring to the primary left and right breast plates. With additional provisions taken on the collar and cods ect. The introduction and pics will show more when I can find the time to post it all. My generalizing here in this thread is only because I don't have a lot of time these days to discuss the intricacies in their entirety. But it'll all make sense. And is all quite aligned with your views on things.

Didn't get much done this weekend like I had hoped. I did move the light slots down a few millimeters but you can barely tell. Still more refining to do in that area.

Keegan, I agree with you. There are a few things than need tweaked on the V4. I'm also doing this. I indented a few spots on the collar armor i thought needed to be changed, and also the nick on the edge of the right breast, along with increasing the size of the light holes to the cover just a bit of the last number. I also moved that dent on the ab, making the top indent more pronounced and moving the holes. here are a few picts of where i'm at now. Just getting them primed for the final paint job! :)

I discovered I probably need a new backplate. I trimmed the area where the collar connects to match the real armor only to find I probably need that extra material....
I plan on painting this and selling it. Maybe I can get my hands on something else.
