Not including thrusters, I think the width of an MLC pack is around 16"
The MLC pack is about 17" wide, and almost 22" from thruster to thruster.
EDIT: And its an awesome pack if you are considering one!
I was just guessing...I don't have an MLC pack.
Here it is, finally arrived today and I most say that I am very impressed with the paint job that my friend Austin did. Buddy, you did a hell of a job on the pack, thanks a lot. :) :thumbsup
If you need something painted just send him a PM, he's a great guy to deal with. :)
Here are the pictures, great attention to detail was taken(looks 1000 times better in person). :) I am so happy.

sweet JP, how much did the kit set ya back?
It is an MLC pack, there is an interest thread for it. It should not be hard to find.Quote:

Austin, thanks for everything. The helmet is in the works right now, cant say much, it's a surprise. :D
Woooo-Hoooo! Man, you're pack looks great!! Austin- :thumbsup
You did a great job!
It looks sooo good to see those MLC packs painted up. From grey primer "kit" to finished "property of Boba Fett".
Nice job guys!
Retrovertigo, if you want any details on the MLC JP, just PM me...
:D
take care,

Nice Jpack! Really nice! :):thumbsup
Defiler, I see that you're almost done with the Fett!
Robert :fettrotj
Not really, I still have a few details that need to be taken care of. I want my display to be almost perfect, that is why is taking me so long to complete. Soon..... :)Quote:

I've heard that the older MB width is around 13.5". This seems awfully small. Can anyone verify this?
And has anyone got the latest MB? How wide is that one?
I have a new MB JP. I'll get you some measurements.
Tell me what you need.
Thakns,
Robert E. :fettrotj
Marcus,
The MLC 'pack is 16 1/4" - 16 1/2" wide, not including thrusters.
Si
Hi Robert,
I just need the width across the pack (not including thrusters) looking at it from the back.
Thanks

Nice jet pack. Hope I will be able to proudly post pics of my scratchbuild that I´m doing
Nice Work, love the paint job
Doug,
Re: your call for assistance on how to attach the top of the straps -
2 methods I can think of other than cut slots:
1) find UK Scout's thread about how he did it. He glued come extra u-bars in near the top and still has the straps coming out of the opening, which is secured with velcro.
2) put a piece of dowel inside just below the top of the opening and epoxy/attatch somehow, into place. Run the strap over this and out of the gap between the JP body and the hole cover.
Either of thses should be secure and easy, and mean you don't have to chop your pack.
Hope this helps a little.
Si
The weathering really makes that rock!
I cut out slots in the removable back and didn't need to reinforce it at all. It really is all in the angle how the straps come out and attach to your harness- you are going to want to rig it all up and get an idea of where the strap would naturally come out and attach to the harness in a relative straight line- I hope this makes sense- if not, just pm me for clarification.
it makes sense mirax. I think I'm giong to have to cut small keyholes just above where the removable piece goes. I just had them running out the top of the removable piece but that piece kept falling of and the pack would twist out and end up upside down.
Just got a MB Jet Pack kit and it seems to be 14 inches with without thrusters.
David
Is this the new MB pack, or old? I had the old pack and it was about 14", which was way to small, the new pack is supposed to be bigger.Quote:

My fg RA pack is 16" across.
I have got a new MB pack coming soon.
Just got it the day after Christmas. I was assuming this was the latest version when I sent payment.
I did have to email him because he forgot to include instructions. I like to have a hard copy sitting beside me, for some reason it just makes me feel better if the instuctions are beside me as I assemble something.
David
I know for a fact I have the most recent MB jet pack. It is 14.5" across without the thrusters.
Same here, 14.5"
I concur that my MB is 14.5" wide as well.
all those measurements sound way to small for me......i'm a big guy, and the packs i saw at midohiocon are WAYYYYYY to small for a big guy.
:doh If that is the size of MB's new pack I may just be selling it as soon as I get it, My RA pack is bigger and more accurate size wise and I don't want to go smaller for my display.Quote:

I thought/assumed it was MUCH MUCH bigger then his first pack, it don't sound like it.
I'll just have to beef up the legs to handle the weight of the fg pack.
Lynn
I am more interested in the diameter of the main tank pipe on all the packs.

You guys that have a MLC jet pack, how much does the rocket weigh? I'm considering trying to buy one to replace the VERY heavy rocket that came with the jet pack I recently bought.
it weighs like 3 to 4 ounces. no kidding. I have my old MLC for sell if you like. 30.00
here's the pic

I agree with 'Turo. I've not weighed mine, but it feels like next to nothing. I'd say 3 - 4 oz was a fair estimation.
Hope this helps,
Si
Yup, I ditto that.
Wow. You got yourself a deal! :DQuote:

PM me and we'll settle up. :)
BTW, the rocket that came with my FG pack weighs about 5 pounds, maybe MORE. I'm NOT joking. It's solid resin with a wooden core.
I cannot imagine having this thing on top of my jet pack. I'd be afraid that everytime I leaned over it would pull me off-balance or something! :lol
***! My entire MLC jet pack doesn't even weigh that much!!!!!
The rocket weighs more than the other parts combined! The fiberglass pack is very light. The thrusters and tank caps are also solid resin. I may recast those in FeatherLite low-density resin (should reduce the weight by 70%) *if* I can justify the price of the extra silicone I'm going to have to buy to make the molds with. :/
If nothing else, the rocket will be a great help! :D
Yes, honestly, and ask me about it...I probably have the same Jet Pack as FettHunter (Fiberglass from GA/"chaucer's"), which is resin and wood. IT IS HEAVY!:suprise
Robert :fettrotj
I've verified that mine is actually a "Mandalorian Costuming" jet pack. The pack body is the only "good" part of the whole pack, and even THAT is questionable. The resin pieces (rocket, tank endcaps, thrusters) all SUCK in a MAJOR way. :doh The odd thing is, greeblies (like piano keys) from a MB jet pack fit mine PERFECTLY. I wonder if they just recasted a MB pack and glassed it?Quote:

Thanks to Seeker, I got a SWEET MLC rocket in the mail today (thanks again, bud! :)). It surprised me when I opened the box! It looks like it would be "Mini Me's" rocket, if he had a jet pack! :lol It's about 3/4 the size of my original one. After lining it up with the pack body, it does look about right. I'm guessing the original (5 pound) rocket was WAY big. ;)
Well, I think I'm going to clean up (as best I can) 1 top tank endcap and 1 bottom tank endcap, then mold and cast them in ultra low density resin to reduce the weight and provide better consistency (since all my pieces will be from the same mold then).
I wonder if I can get MLC thrusters? :?
