I Sanded down the blue (that had gobs of silver paint on it)
Reshot the silver
put a clearcoat over that
Then twisted my ankle so badly that I can't walk.
Now I'm waiting to recover.
I'll have to dothe whole :jet pack all over again anyway.
SEEKER just said "very nice"
& didn't give it a
...lookin good bro...forgot to send you the aluminum parts...they will be sent mon and you will have them tues...
...BLS in the heezy!!!
PS John says it better look good
Yeah, i spoke with John today.
Tuesday is good, as I am off.
(might be able to walk by then too.)
ok, it's finally finished.(except the stabilizer & beacon)
I sanded the blue back down
masked it off
painted it silver
used the "mustard" technique
painted over that with the blue again
pulled off the masking tape ,
AND THE DECALS PULLED OFF WITH THE TAPE!!!!!!!!!
scrubbed off the mustard
repainted the now missing decals by hand
painted a few topical scratches
weathered it with a wash of acrylic black & windshield washer fluid
misted the whole thing with black

I was wondering how this came out,,,,, Looks great. Guess I got to do mine now since everyone else is doing their's. Im sure youll get the SEEKER face over this.
That looks incredible! I have just started painting mine and ran in to a problem with the blue paint peeling off with the tape, too. I have to repaint those sections but I like how my yellow/orange areas turned out sort of pre-dirty.
You may want to try a hair-dryer when removing the tape...removing slowly of course....works in most cases.Jancelot said:

Where do you buy MLC stuff. I've looked a long time and found nothing.
Nice Painting Job, BTW.
It's people like you that make me want to repaint my jet pack......actually it's really inspiring and the pics along the way really help. Your pack looks incredible. Thanks for taking the pictures a long the way,

can we change the title to "Rattle-Can ROTJ Jet Pack painting Tutorial"
or something like that to help the newer peeps out?
AWESOME!! Just in time for me. Thanks.
what is the type of red color use in this jet pack?? dont appears in the list
Cant believe I missed this, amazing pack looks incredible.
I am considering painting a jet pack but it looks extremely difficult. How do you guys achieve the scratches/weathering on the jet pack, especially the blue parts?. I would love it if someone came out with a template which could be placed over the blue parts to replicate the scratches.
