MLC Fett body armors? **First FG pull pics!!** (8/18)

Hey Jer,

Hope you had a good vacation. Did your stuffed dog have a good time

I know exactly the bit you mean.

Here's a link to the ref CD pic 52 showing the bit you mean.

I'll let Mardon give the definitive answer, but in the absence of holes, I assumed this raised bit would also be absent and I've been looking at getting some thin sintra or foamboard to create the lump, then I'd cut the slot to my own required dimensions.

HTH.

Hey Jer,

I know what you mean buddy and as much as I wanna include those humps (Loose/dettached) - problem is, can we arrive at a basic lenght of the opening?

We all know folks would be using many types of harness for their JPs and making it big might look funny, while making it small might be useless.

I believe 2" is long enough for the opening....what do others think?

Excellent work so far mardon!! (y). Just one small suggestion. In the ref pic above, it looks to me like there is a "hump" or raised area on the backplate around the neck opening. I know I have seen this in other pics as well, but can't remember where, :( so if you feel like messin with that, it might be a little more accurate, but the backplate is awesome regaurdless. Outstanding work-I can't wait to get a set!:)

HH - Not a vacation . . . got called away for work. :( Stuffed dog didn't go there next time . . . middle of nowhere Minnesota! :)

Mardon - Yeah, I know why you weren't planning on putting the slots in, just wasn't sure if you'd noticed the vent things or not! :) I should have known better! hehehe

Well, Jer's back and Mardon's armor is unveiled! What timing, 'eh?!

:D

Yup, I'll be proud to handle this side of the Atlantic for MLC armor.

Si, you can put me down for armor, just as soon as I decide what to get!

Okay, I've decided!

I could use shoulders, collar, probably the backplate too.

Got me thinking, my existing armor is really nice, but the allure of fiberglass collar, backplate and shoulders is darn hard to resist!!

:)

Damian,

I added that raised portion behind the neck opening on the backplate....no worries.
I guess I should send Si another pic :)

Question/clarification:

There seems to be variants of the shoulder armors - I've seen a center flat side with 2 sloping ends (marmit has this) and some that looks well rounded - half circles.

Which ones do you preffer?
I did mine half-circle but could change to whatever you believe is more accurate :)

I guess I would prefer the angular/flat version Mardon, but either version would be OK w/ me. By the way, add me to the list for everthing above the waist: (shoulders, collar, armour & backplate,) Thanx alot,
Damian

Is this one generic set of Fett armor we're talking here? Or will there be differences between Jango and Boba versions?

 at the thought of Mardon pulling his hair out at the prospect of doing Jango armour as well.

Squirk, there are a few differences between Boba and Jango versions. All the damage for a start, and the shoulders spring to mind. On boba thay have 6 points, and on Jango 8 etc. I don't think you can have a generic "either/or" set that would do for both with any degree of accuracy.

At this stage, I think the idea is to do just Boba.

I'll update the list later. Just got to work, so I guess I'd better do some before I play around on the net! ;)

The knees would be molded as one piece :)....except ofcourse for the darts/missiles.

Jer - I made the humps for the JP opening & they would be included on the backplate :)

Will send more pics of the backplate to Si by tomorrow.

Put me in the list for the knees and shoulders. :)
Thanks for making the changes on the knees.

P.S. I would prefer the shoulders molded as the marmit figure.

In the pics of the proposed armor design the chest armor looks to be a little too flat. Boba's armor, it seems to me, is a little more form fitting to the curve of the chest and abdomen. The chest plates and ab plate seem like they are slightly cupped, that is to say, if you flipped them upside down they might hold a small amount of water. You can see in ref pic #99 http://bobafettcdref.cjb.net/
how the armor seems to fit the roundness of the body. Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,

drvfett. I agree that the chest and ab plates should be slightly convex/concave (depending on which side of it you are ;) ), but IMO they are already. I had a look closely at the pics and they do curve a little. My current sintra armour curved too much and looked awful when I wore it to start with so I had to flatten it out. The curve need only be very slight. Also, Mardon mentioned in one of his earlier posts that the moulds for the chest were easy as they were ALMOST flat. The inference being that they were not completely flat.

Perhaps Mardon can clarify.

Well, the list is coming on!

I just realised, I already have a set of the MLC chest armour on the way, so I'm down for a full set, less the chest, abs and diamond. I'll update the list to that effect in a minute.

Speaking of updates, Mardon sent me some more pics. He's done the butt/kidney plate, raised the back bit of the backplate, as suggested, and made the little bits that go above the JP harness slots. It is my understanding that these will be included loose, to put on ourselves once we've put our own harness slots in.

Comments? Pics? More people for the list?

Cheers for now.

Looking good, can you post a picture of the back and collar joined together?? Also, what is the lenght of the colar from one side to the other??

Thanks
