BTW, FP armor is made of FG and has the dents already there and it's the best looking and accurate so far as of FG armor goes. I'll be posting the pics of FP's armor sometime this afternoon or tonight when I get back from work, to let you see the pics of what I'm talking about.
Robert

I want a set of accurate shoulder bells....

***Edit*** I just got word direct that FP only has armor made in styrene and only offers in fg if the person really wants it.

I have his chest armor and mine is styrene, I also have have his ROTJ gauntlets and those are a combo of fg tops and styrene bottoms.

I do now know his new knees are vac'd styrene and the cod is vac'd styrene as he has told me personally on this.

Rex,

Ask and thou shalt receive!

A little earlier, I said to do it next week. Well, Mardon did better than that and finished the mock ups of everything but the knees already.

Here goes:

Mardon did say to me that the cod is done on a trim to fit basis so it's more versatile. Everything else looks pretty good to me. It's late and I'm tired, but I'll try to get some thoughts up on the question of how to attach the back to the collar. I seem to recall them both being slightly longer over the shoulder so they overlap with the collar on top and the bolts holding it all together. I'll check for pics and post them if I find them.

In the meantime, constructive criticism welcome, but no baseless opinions. Back it up with pics. I don't want anyone elses impression of what Fett looks like, I want it accurate and I want proof before we make mardon do any work changing anything.

I think Mardon has based this on the Marmit Fett, but I'm sure he'll chime in and clarify.

Thanks to Sergio for the hosting!

Enjoy the pics!

Are you going to put the little slots on the back plate for the jet pack straps ?

Here's a link to the Ref CD (with recognition to Brak's Buddy for gathering the info and Sergio for the hosting) showing my thoughts on how the connection between the collar and backplate works.

Picture 195 - Collar/back join

Here's one showing the cod.

Picture 594 - Cod

The only differences I can see are underneath, it goes a little further, and the raised section on the front is a little more raised. That may be down to the angle of the photo on the MLC, as it's pretty straight on.

Also, it goes round the sides a little more to meet the kidney/butt plate half way round. I saw a photo of that which I'll look for and link to once I've posted this.

::EDIT - Found the one I was looking for

Picture 594 - Cod + butt plate join

You can just see a bolt (should be the same as the collar studs) and I recall this holding the cod piece to the butt plate, one overlapping the other similar to the collar/back plate, above - END EDIT::

The shape of the collar, back and shoulders looks good to me.

The only other observation is in relation to the chest armour. The protrusions above and below the diamond, where they almost make the left and right chest pieces meet, seem a little rounded, and ought to be slightly squared off. It might be down to the resolution of this crappy old laptop I'm using at the moment. Can anyone else with a better machine (probably all of you!) see it and agree/disagree?

Nice work Mardon!

Hi all

I've tried doing my backplate in sintra, but it's proving very difficult due to the shape and curvature, so I'd be interested in this part if you decide to go ahead with the project

Phil,

Welcome aboard mate. Good to see you made the switch from RPB/UKG over to here.

Would it be possible to edit your post here to delete it and for you to post a new thread? I mean no disrespect at all :) but this is a thread to discuss a specific set of armour, and to have your pics half way down it would be perhaps misleading to those looking for pics of the MLC armour. Failing that, could the Mods take out Phils great pics and give them their own thread?

To everyone else, just to clarify, Phil's pics are not of the MLC armour.

Many thanks.

OK, Mardon is a madman. Last week he told me he'd try to get the shoulders done by now, and here he is having done pretty much all there is to do as far as the first mock ups are concerned!

Here are the knee pictures guys and girls.

I am liking these a lot! :love

Constructive criticism welcome where supported by pics etc. to show your point.

Mardon, will you be doing the kindey/butt plate, too?

Man I love this stuff!

For what I can see in the pictures(correct me if wrong) the knees look like they where modeled from the Marmit Fett. It looks to me that the front part is a bit to broad when compared to the pictures on the ref. CD. As you can see in the picture the movie knee is narrower in the lower front section.

Here is the link for the picture I am talking about:

LMK what your thoughts are. :) Other than that they look great to me.

I agree with you, Defiler, but it might be down to the angle of the MLC knees in the photo.

Mardon, any chance of a straight on shot of the knees?

Good eyes, Defiler, and thanks for making the effort to help and post the pic :).

chest holes for the LED's - i prefer them not to be done so you can customise them to suit the LED kit which i recently got as ive had to modify my chest armour and fill in the extra gaps either side of the LEDs as they are to big.

appart from that they look good for his first try and cant wait for my JP ;)

Hi all,

Mardon has trimmed the cod to be more accurate, and has adjusted the knees to be more accurate as per the Pic that Defiler linked to.

Here's the pic:

MLCarmor[2].13.jpg

Prices are being worked out as we speak/type/read and details should follow shortly. I'm also trying to find out if there is a minimum order.

Your host of this thread should be making an appearance soon to answer queries, so post your thoughts on the project so far.

Neil, I posted a link to the pic of how the back and collar join together. I've suggested they link like that for accuracy's sake. I'm sure MLC will comment on the final design in due course.

As far as the JP harness slots go, I know he was hesitant to put these in on the JP as there are so many different types and size of harness. Again, I'm sure he'll let us know his thoughts.

Regarding the chest light slots, again, I'm sure he'll let us all know what his thoughts and plans are. He is getting exactly the same lights that you, Tristan and I have, though. Whether that will influence him remains to be seen.

Watch this space, there's more to follow.........

My deepest apologies to everyone as it seems I was AWOL for a moment......been terribly busy with other projects.

First off, would like to say a HUGE thanks to my buddy Si for helping us post pics & answering some of the querries. Hats off to ya, mate! :)

Okay, lets get down to it:
The card armor mock-ups you see above was referenced from both the Marmit figure and Fett's reference CD....however, the biggest obstacle for me was trying to make everything applicable for many size builts.
At first, I thought of making each piece a tad bigger so husky :) members could fit right in....while slimmer members can just trim the edges a bit to their liking.
However, the outcome was a bit off in comparisson with pics - so I decided to trim just a bit to make it look more presentable.
I hope I didnt let anybody down.....

Features (based on my design considerations):

*Collar & backplate - from the pic above, I've changed the design of the backplate to make it sorta like a "v" shape at the back....isntead of the straight design you see above. It will hug the back better. Trust me, it was a devil of a time making the backplate!
It would be joined with the collar armor by means of a tongue piece that underlaps the collar. Use velcro or double sided tape. Dont worry, I havent forgotten the 4 studs on the collar armor.
Sorry, but you have to cut the slits for your JP harness - a lot of folks use different types of harness, so its impractical cutting holes that may be different from your own.

*Chest armors - the LEDs portion is not cut thru, therefore you can enlarge or even make smaller the cut-outs. Infact, you can even cover 'em entirely with bondo & make new cut-outs to your preference.

*Shoulder armors - need I say more? :)

* Cod piece & rear part - okay, a tough one. I decided to make the back piece very long since we have so many different waist sizes in our group.....there are guys who have a 29" waistline to guys who have 40" :)
The application is for the rear piece straps to go around to pass both your sides and underlap the front Cod piece. This you have to trim depending on your waistline.

*Knee armors - comes with those 4 darts/missiles

Please take note that thin FG pieces are pliable to some point, therefore could bend a bit depending on each built.

Hope this helps!

Mardon

Hey, welcome back dude. I was just about to send out the search party!

No worries about helping out. My pleasure. Plus, I do have an alterior motive ;) I want this armour real bad so anything I can do to help is worthwhile!

OK. Mardon is up for making these, but to keep the price down and to make it worth his while spending the time on it there will need to be some committed interest from a few of us before he declares the project a go. He doesn't want to waste his time building just 2 or 3 pieces, which I'm sure we can all understand.

The prices are set as low as possible, thus Mardon has to have this committed interest just to cover the cost of the moulds that'll have to be made and to pay his workers. Don't forget that Mardon has given his time to this project for free. There is no profit in his prices, just the cost of materials and payments to his workers.

So the prices are as follows:

Knees x 2 inc darts $47.00
Shoulders x 2 $24.00
Collar & Back $47.00
Cod & Butt/kidney $42.00
Chest, abs & centre $36.00
Total set $196.00

These prices do not include shipping. This will depend on how many are interested. It is likely to be cheaper to ship in bulk to Rex in the US (assuming he agrees) and me in the UK, and to then be dispersed individually from there. There will also be domestic postage charges. These will be dealt with on an individual basis, but will be at cost only (shipping plus packaging). It will depend on the weight of the finished items and how far you live from Rex (for those in the US) or me (in the UK).

Payments can be made through Rex and me (depending on which side of the Atlantic you are) should this be a go.

So, I guess this is now an interest/sign up thread. No money will change hands until the project is confirmed as a go.

I bags the #1 spot!

1. Han Hunter - complete set (Less the chest) :D
2. UK Scout - complete set
3. Bountys Hunted - shoulders, collar, back
4. Jango's Kid - shoulders, collar, chest, back
5. Blastech - Knees
6. Defiler - Knees, shoulders
7. drvfett - complete set
8. TK0174 (RPB) - complete set
9. TK363 (RPB) - complete set
10. Bobasfett - complete set
11. TK1608 (RPB) - backplate
12. Purplesith (RPB) - complete set
13. Imperial Citizen (RPB) - complete set
14. Chewcy (RPB) - Chest (Poss + collar & back)
15. DarthVader1 - Complete set
16. Kurtyboy - all except shoulders and knees

Cheers!

Well, as one who's been AWOL for two weeks myself . . . look what I missed out on! :)

Sweet lookin' work buddy, very sweet indeed!

My only comment I would make on the back piece, if you're still entertaining ideas that is - good idea on letting people cut out their own slots, but, it is worth noting that there is some "molding" (for lack of a better word) that goes on around that slot on the back plate around the holes for the harness straps - almost like a vent. I can find a pic if you need one but . . . if you let people cut out their own holes, that means you're probably not putting that vent type thing in I take it???
