MLC ESB Sidearm Blaster *UPDATE 6* Pics Price & Sign-up List

Hey Jer,

Thanks for the critique buddy, appreciate it.

The butt does have a lip...a slight one which you could see & feel, but I could always make it bigger. The pics dont really show the curvatures & other details most specially when the flash of the camera drowns it out. Naturally, the pinkish color hue of the bondo doesnt help much either.

By "tubular", do you mean squarish/rectangular? Anyway, LMK & I'll look into it.

thanks again buddy!

Mardon

Lookin' real good Mardon! This is going to be an awesome piece when it's done! :D

Here's my input, for what it's worth. :)

Maybe square the butt end a little:

The actual pistol has more flare to the bottom:

And finally, you're right about the pictures of the nozzle. They suck.

There's no way in the world I could express how I think it looks, so I drew my interpretation of it:

The section with lines looks to me like...um...like a screw cap. If you know what I mean. Anyway, that's what it looks like to me based on crappy images. I could be way off myself. I dunno.

Anyway, hope that helps! :)

Cheers!

And here's my graphical take on some changes I'd make (on top of the ones Jeezy threw in there . . . good eye)

Mine however are not nearly as nicely rendered as Jeezy's.

:D

What's everyone think on that?

Good eyes you guys...Mardon is hitting the same points of debate I came up against while working on mine (but he's still closer to finishing than I am :) ).

It's a real trick scaling the Marmit pistol and merging it with what we can sort of see on the limited reference pics...but he's got a firm grasp on it and is doing a great job. This is going to be one cool blaster!

That Bespin blaster is a different gun bud. It was once thought to also be the Fett blaster, but the grips are totally different. :)

That back end of the receiver looks similar though. We'll find the original someday, but for now scaling the Marmit is the best way to go I think.

WOW! I have NEVER seen a better example of what TDH is all about than in this project!:D Mardon, you're the Leader in this, of course, but the TEAMWORK you are commanding from your fellow TDHers, who have posted above, just gives me all those warm & fuzzy feelings, that make me PROUD to be a part of these boards! LONG LIVE TDH!:cheers

Nahhh....I'm no leader, I'm just the worker :)
You guys know more about these than I ever could......

I just wanted to think that each project we make would be a collaboration of great talents from this board - thus this is for everybody.
...and if we're successfull in creating it, then its the success of the group as a whole and not by any individual.

I'm just glad to know that you guys joined me in the journey! :D

Looking great man! But I think your first barrel tip was closer to being correct (not so much of a taper going on). Here's a compilation from the guru, Brak's Buddy:

I'll dig for my drawings too.

EDIT...here was my initial take on what the tip would look like:

Like I mentioned in my email to you though, it's going to be tough to get the "definitive" barrel tip until we can find some better, more clear reference pics.

Again, you're doing a spectacular job!

Is this this just a project gun or is this going to complete the MLC Trifecta: JP/helmet/pistol?

Yup! What MaxPlague said. :)

The nozzle size was closer before, but the tip needed a slight taper. I could have done a better job of explaining it I think. Sorry! More like this I guess:

I think what Max just posed it closer. To my eye the end has a slight taper though. I might be wrong. I say we put it to a vote? Or something.

As for the butt end, I think it should taper out more than just be like the butt is sitting on a squared piece. Like this, though maybe even a little more rounded still:

You're doing fantastic work Mardon, and I SO appreciate that you're amenable to the suggestions of anal fussbudget's like me.

Cheers!

Here's my latest 2 cents...Mardon sent another update pic which I've incorporated into my pic below:

MLC_tip_suggestions.jpg

You can see that the black and white pic of the screen-used sidearm shows more straight lines in the design of the barrel tip. Looking at color pics, you can almost see slight bevels on the edges (called out on my pic).

What do you all think? Does that strike a good balance between tapers/bevels and straight lines?

I definitely like the length of the barrel much better on your illustration, Max. However, I don't think the tip of the barrel has that pronounced of a bevel. It seems to taper very slightly, if at all.

Yeah, you're right TD, I think I did over-pronounce it. Oooopsie !@#$!@#. :) I should fix it to avoid confusion...

EDIT...fixed the bevel on above pic. :) It should now say "maybe slight bevel" you may need to "super-refresh" if you've already seen the old pic to refresh your browser.

One step forwards, two steps back, eh Mardon.

Upon further reflection it looks more like this to me now:

TDH_mynozzle.jpg

With an overall tapering towards the tip.

But since I've seen footage of bigfoot that was clearer than the available reference material, I'd be just as happy with what MaxPlague did.

Hmm. The beveled edges above make me wonder if this was some sort of a sink aerator.

Cheers!
