Metal gauntlets

After looking at several threads about Wickedbeard's awesome metal gauntlets, I decided to tackle that same project by myself with the aid of WOF's templates (thank you so much for all of these wonderful templates!!!).

So without anymore stalling, here comes the pics!

Note : The black lines will be wiped clean. The gauntlets will be repainted as they are meant to become ROTJ (I might try a ESB set afterwards) and some pictures show the gauntlets ''assembled'' with scotch-tape.

I had some time to work on my right gauntlet but unfortunately, it is not quite finished yet.

Wow, that's really looking great! Nice work.

What adhesive/technique are you using to attach the parts?

I am using some Weld-bond and/or Goop to glue the parts together... I had to make certain changes to WOF's amazing templates in order to make the gauntlets with metal sheet but it is still pretty straightforward.

BTW, I still have to put some putty to make the lines a little less square and paint the whole things.

Should have some more pics very soon... the right gauntlet should be complete sometime next week... I'll take some nicer pics then...

Then, I'll start making the left one. But I still need to find a good dental expander.

I didn't have a lot of time recently since my last post so I didn't progress as much as I would have liked ... lots of work.

Now, I am stuck and I would like some advice. How do you guys make the 2 halves attach together? I have a piano hinge on one side but how do you make the gauntlet close and stay closed? I was thinking velcro but I would like your input.

BTW, as soon as the ''closing'' thingy is done I'll post some more pics before starting the paint job on that gauntlet.

I should be at the primer part this weekend... I'm currently working on making the 2 halves attach to each other. Then, small amount of primer to see the imperfections... then some putty, then some sanding, then repeat until satisfactory. I'll post some pics then. Maybe I'll even have some time to get started on the left gauntlet next week!

Sorry for the bad pic but it's the only one I have and I forgot to take some more WIP pics. I should have some more decent pics of the finished right gauntlet soon as I have started to make the paintjob (wine red, black). I still need to install the 4 darts and the connectors on the outside part but I am slowly getting there...

Paint is done on the right gauntlet. Waiting on my 4 metal darts and need to make the 2 ''thingies'' on the outside part of the gauntlet and install the 2 switches but I am slowly getting there... unfortunately, I have cut my right thumb pretty bad so I have not made as much progress as I would have wanted.

I'll post a picture in a few minutes...
