masking tips?

Hi, I got purple Humbrol masking fluid for masking my armor I plan to paint with rattlecans.
What is the best way: remove the masking after every completed colored layer and reapply for the new layer? Or go around the masked part where applicable for the next color. I am planning to use rafalfett's templatea. Thanks in advance guys.

When I painted my armor, I removed the mask after every layer of paint, then reapplied over the whole area. I used rubber 'colour shaper' brushes to apply the masking fluid, one large for large areas of masking and a smaller one for details and small stuff. Masking fluid will quickly ruin any bristle brush.

Dude- I've used masking fluid, and toothpaste... Tooth past is so much easier to use and remove. Try tooth paste. You won't to back.

Lol... thanks for the suggestion. Another moneysaver.
And apply straight from the tube/ pencils/brushes.. or mix it first. And just peel off with fingers?

I've tried toothpaste and mustard and all kinds of stuff, but nothing works as well as the actual liquid mask. Although some people may have better luck with different things. Also, the more layers of paint you put on, the harder it is to get the mask off. Better to do one at a time if you can.

You can use a tooth pick, a Q -Tip (Soft side and Cardboard stick side), a paint brush... You can get small details out of it. It literally washes right of. Or use a wet rag/paper towel. (If you use enamel) I wouldn't go rinsing an acrylic paint job, the acrylic will wash right off. The masking fluid acts like water on a smooth surface. When you put the masking fluid down it wants to "Crawl away" and bunch up to itself like the T-1000- It won't adhere to the spot you want it on.

When acrylic paint dries it is completely waterproof so it won't wash off if rinsed. Once it is dry it is as safe to wash as enamel.

I've used rubber masking from Humbrol which I remove after every colour, I've also used vaseline mixed with a little sand, also very effective.
