Guys.

I need to adjust my mannequin stance as he looks a bit of a 'camp' boba so to say.Any ideas on how its best to cut the limbs etc?

Cheers

Hmm...with a saw? Hehe.

If you really want a good stance, I´d go for the longsleeve, pants, duct tape and expanding foam scratch version though. :)

What do is I cut the limb at the joint (hacksaw - or Dremel if the material is softer). Then I sand the areas to be joined with heavy grit sandpaper. I drill holes into the ends of each piece of the limb where it's to be joined. I shove pliable wire into the holes, and sort of lace the limb into the new position. Sometimes it needs extra temporary support, like a sling, or rest it on something high, if it's an arm or whatever. Then I lay fiberglass over the lacing wire and let that set up. Usually a couple of layers. When it sets up, it's in a new position.

I'm actually getting ready to do this on one of my new mannequins soon.

I also make the fingers poseable so you can get them to hold weapons. Someone suggested using zip ties (i guess at the wrist) to secure the weapon to the hand even more securely. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Okay, there you go. Didn't know anyone had done a tutorial on this.

One thing to mention is you can save yourself a little bit of money by going with a headless mannequin. You can add a head fairly easily yourself (dowel rod and an old inverted bowl) and save yourself $15 to $20 off a total mannequin price.

The refiberglassing technique is also a good tool in ensuring there is no confusion about your Fett's gener preference. I'm just saying some of the poses they put those mannequins in . . . well, you get my drift. Put your mannequin in a manly pose.
