    Dec 8, 2002, 12:48 PM - Mandalorian Blueprints Question #1

I feel like re-doing my chest armour, seeing as the last time I did them I rushed it and they don't look so great.

I'm using the Mandalorian Blueprints from the website that has mysteriously disappeared. Anyway, I don't understand why at bottom of the chest armour blueprint it says 2" Scale. What exactly does that mean?? I'm dying to cut my armour out but I don't want to have the wrong size.

I guess another question arises, are the Mandalorian Blueprints accurate? Maybe someone could give me the exact measurements of the armour from MotM or AoSW to be certain.

    Thanks in advance!

I think you'll find that the mandalorian blueprints are quite off on almost everything. They're a great place to start but, by no means screen accurate.

I think you'll find that your best bet is to go through the reference cd and there are some really good straight on shots of the chest armor that you can use to almost trace for the shape.

Adjust the size to your own body type of course but, I think you'll have pretty good luck with that method.

That's right, Ego. I found that the mandalorian sizing was a bit large. I'm about six foot, but I had to reduce the pectoral plates to 90% to get the proportions right. (Could have something to do with gravity because the tummy plate was too small...

Anyway, the reference CD is awesome. I used TurboCad to draw the pieces with measurements taken from the CD by the ruler-held-against-the-screen method, then printed it out at different sizes till I found one that worked best. Just remember that when you see the armour from front on, add a little bit to the width to allow for the curvature. Try making a few in cardboard first. Have fun!

Hey phantom, how is that bucket made custom coming? I've been looking for more updates on the bucket armor before I start my bucket armor.

Well, The bucket armor is sitting on a shelf. I cannot get paint to stick well. But I painted the stomach piece and the paint seems to sticking somewhat well. But I don't think it would last vary long. It scratches off vary easy. So I bought two sheets of Expanded High Density Rigid Polyvinyl PVC Cut Sheet AKA sintra. I suggest doing the same if you want a long lasting paint job. I got 2 of the White Expanded PVC 24" x 48" .120" Thick sheets. Any bigger than 24"x48" and you have to get your own shipper. You can get the sintra at usplastic.com

Thanks asok. As for the diamond center piece I just realized last night that I had not made that piece yet at least I don't think so. I seem to remember doing it but I can't find it. I will make it soon.

I was planning on using Fusion paint for the first layer since it bonds to plastic..

    Thanks for the update.
