Making gauntlets from scratch

Has anyone ever done this without molds and have any idea what I could use to shape some ESB gauntlets and use for the base? I'm going to try and boil some sintra and just shape it over what I get to give it a unified look. I was thinking some random plastic and wood pieces from a hardware store unless anyone knows some specific things I could use.

I'm currently making guantlets from scatch, I bought a cocktail shaker that was about the right size, I then wrapped a heated piece of plastic (cut to size of using wizard's templates). I then wrapped the whole thing up in gaffa tape and filled the cocktail shaker with boiling water. It's worked so far but I'll keep you up dated.
