I think some people used a mini mag light.

Yeah, a mini-mag is the way to go. Get a pump-type hairspray bottle top to fit on top. All you have to do is cut the little slits in the sides.

That's what I used for mine. No wiring or anything. I just drilled a hole in the "platform" next to the rocket and dropped it in. Twist to turn on, twist to turn off.
