I plan to do the weathering topically. Once i have the base colours on, I will give it a mist of Tamiya 'flat earth' and then a wash of screen wash and black. Then put the scratches on topically. Not sure if it is best to put the scratches on before the black wash though :facepalm
Great work buddy... just hope mine turns out as good?
You may wanna put them on first then use the wash after that... then use scotch bright (or similar) to take off some of the edges to bring the silver through? at least that is what I was gonna do?
I think you are right. I will put the scratches on first and then wash it. I might then add additional scratches to create an 'old' and 'new' scratch look.
Just a quick thought. do you need those bits for CE, otherwise i might be a good excuse to meet up at CE (i can hand you the cape and spikes in person). If you need them for CE i will post immediately
No worries Jon - The cape and spikes are not gonna complete any almost finished suit! :cry but a welcome addition to the items I do have :cheers
bring them along to CE buddy and will chat over that/those pints I owe ya?
As for the scratches IMO it would look better if you went for the 'old' and 'new' look... the scotch bright is/would only be used very lightly to take away any wash in that area and create any fine scratch details. hope that helps or even makes sense...
Some great progress there mate. Can't wait for CE now, was just wondering how well you would be able to drive whilst wearing the helmet? It may make our road trip down pretty interesting!!
