Locking the ESB gauntlets closed

I need some help I keeping my gauntlets closed.

For the right gauntlet I am using magnets and I think they will be okay, but for the left gauntlet I am having troubles.

Since the key pad hangs over the hand, if I lift my wrist it pries open the shell. Magnets just won't cut it. I was thinking of cutting a slot in the top shell and glue a piece of plastic on the lower shell with a one way ridge. So it slides in no problem but won't slide out-no without pressing on it from the outside. But I fear such a modification will void 501 membership.

Any ideas?

I can't remember what post I saw it on but you could use a small long hinge and glue each side to the inside of the gauntlet and then make the bar that goes through the hinge slide in and out. That way you slide the bar out, put the two halves of the gauntlet on your arm and then slide the hinge back in and lock it in place that way. I hope that makes since

What you can do is glue a quick release strap at the beginning away from your wrist. Magnets are what's used...but the quick release is simply an insurance policy against the gauntlet from FULLY popping open. Flexibility near your wrist is actually a good thing else it will go numb for hours when trooping. I believe deathproof had a picture of one in his build thread.

thanks guys for the info Bcarp100, would a hinge on the outside void 501??
crumdum, i'll look into deathproof's build

I though of velco, but I find the Velcro attraction is higher than the glue attraction and I just pull off the Velcro. Should I use crazy glue on top of Velcro glue?

Use a hinge... chop the ends off so you can pull the pin out and separate the two half's, close the gauntlets, glue the hinge in let it set, pull the pin out to open....

something like this,

you will only need about 50mm of hinge there is no need to run the hinge the whole length

if you would like better description I can get some photos of how I did mine just drop me a message (y)
