Loanstar Flightsuit review

I received my Loanstar Jango suit last week and am very pleased with my purchase.

The colour was not quite what I thought it would be when I took it out of the box, but I think that is a point of contention for just about every flightsiut, Jango or Boba.

The craftsmanship, when compared to my attempt with a modified GreenPepper pattern (utter failure) :facepalm, was fantastic. The attention to detail in the seams, the placement of hems, and the waist elastic system shows the pride I think he takes in his work. The overall fit was spot on, and I didn't give Mike any measurements, it was one he put up in the Cargo Hold. That being said, I have a fairly average body type (5'9" 170lbs.), a solid medium.

The only other problem wasn't even his fault. The Post Office didn't put the ticket into my PO Box until two weeks after it arrived. :angry Other than that it arrived within 4 weeks.

I would not hesitate to recommend Loanstar to anyone who is looking to buy a flightsuit.(y)

I feel there are some misunderstandings about the review I posted and would like to continue to clear things up.

The rating I gave the suit relates directly to the suit I received. I'm not going to go back and edit my original post to clear things up if people want to read this thread accurately. I did say before I don't doubt Mike's ability to either fix this or produce a quality suit.

For instance, if I crossed the pond right now and got together for him to actually tailor it to me with his own measurements I'm sure it would not only be the most accurate flightsuit around but also fit perfectly. It was unfair of me to judge and make the rating simply on the suit I received. If in fact I had received one that fit perfectly and had the same level of accuracy i would give it a 9+. The only thing stopping it from a ten would be a double zipper (which I can understand now that he has cleared it up that is more expensive) not to mentioned just a personal preference.

Also, it is more accurate than the suit I had from Jason/SGB, although that suit was older and Jason has since switched patterns.

The only reason I brought up Jason is that was the other suit I owned and it fit better and was ready to wear from box. The Loanstar/Mike suit is more accurate and I'm happy with the craftsmanship on it's construction (different from the fitting)

I said it previously but I'll say it again, I'd give the suit a 9 pending it fit.
I never said/meant that people shouldn't order from you Mike. Although comments were made in this thread that could deter people.

In fact I think people should order from you, give comments just like I'm giving and no doubt you will be making the best suits around.

To people that are knocking on your price....I think they just are used to seeing the prices of $100-160 for a flight suit and paying $200 + international shipping is just beyond them,

I think the quality of the suit and it's accuracy was worth the money. My only real complaint is the fitting.

I love the pockets, the suit will hide my hose termination from the gauntlets, the thigh pockets support the inserts I have and the legs are long enough and the shin tools are at the correct height.

I also think the collar is made well and has room for the neckseal.

Since you questioned why I didn't PM you to have the suit redone,
I don't want to ship it out again. The shipping costs are going to be more expensive than the money/time it will take to lengthen the sleeves.

Long story short for anyone. Order a suit and just provide Mike with accurate measurements and make sure you are on the same level of understanding on where to measure from.

I don't see anyone else having bigger problems. I'm one of the tallest guys on here next to TubaChris.

P.S. I rated the star fortress productions jumpsuit at a 2. So a 7.5 is pretty good still

Forgot to add I think its a great idea for product reviews..It only benefits both the customer and maker in the end..as long as its done in a constructive way.

That's what I attempted.

And as a maker you cant be thin skinned when it comes to criticism.

I didn't want that to happen in this thread. It was merely meant to state my experience/room for improvements.

Thanks for chiming in Jason

Well Like I said Combat I wasnt bagging on anything you said I made a generalized statement.
And indeed my suit has been tweaked several times. Is anyones suit perfectly accurate...doubtful
And I dont think anyones suit is better than another I think its personal preference and taste.

The original poster did fine giving a review of the item. No sugarcoating or excessive banter towards anything, just honestly it looks like. There was postive and negative items in his opinion. If done with tact and a careful choice of words, it will be a benefit to the seller to keep an eye on their product and for future buyers to make sure the product is one that they will truly like.

If there was more honesty like this publicly posted here, I would have avoided several purchases that netted me items that were not up to the sugarcoated reviews I read around here from time to time.

I am one of the newest or THE newest soft parts vendor/fans and I am not ashamed to admit I tweak my patterns quite often and continually look to upgrade and strive for the perfection, but it "ain't gonna happen" not completely anyway and I am not going to let this ruin my fandom. I don't think my stuff is any better than anyone else's, I just like to sew and I am glad that I have been given the opportunity!

Loanstar has had so many positive reviews, do the research, to have a minor issue, now and then has to be expected and this should not and does not tagged him for blackball or anything remotely close to it. Every person who purchases from anyone, should research, but this should not affect his overall rating as a vendor, A-1 !!!

You do need to be thick skinned to take this stuff, as a fan/vendor you do pour your heart into your work and it can get frustrating to see only one side of the story given.

It does not hurt for people to learn from this, maybe learn some kindness and sensitivity.
I have to say, although perhaps the intent was not there, the first post was rather insulting. There I said it, I can completely understand what Loanstar is feeling with this.

I don't know what all happened to make SGB limit his activity here and almost completely leave permenently. It was on the hard parts side and I do not keep up with all of that, but I must say, after awhile, a person could get tired of this, lose there fandom and then want to quit. There is a tendancy to think "why bother"

But I am going to continue to "bother" because it is my hobby. It is my therapy, it keeps me busy and I have made so many great friends here. I do not consider those who have bought my things as "customers" but they are my FRIENDS.....

I hope we have grown somewhat through all of this and I hope we can continue to embrace everyone who tries to contribute to this community!
