Knee Pads and Knee Darts

I've created the knee pads using WOF schematics. The knee dart block have slopped sides, and the slope of the face that the darts connect to is at 22 degrees. Do I stick the darts perpendicular to that face or do I counter sink them a bit and attach them straight forward. I can't really tell from pictures. They look kind of silly sticking out at an angle so I want to make sure that's the correct method.

They should point straight ahead. You will have to counter sink them.
