JETPACK Question

Hi guys,

right now I am working on my MOW Jet Pack and I am just thinking of how to attach the rocket onto the jet pack.

a) permanently glued
b) some other kind of installation because of easier transporting when it is able to be taken off

Could anyone give me some hints and tips of how you did it?

Just curious what ideas have come up about this issue.

Thanks!!

i would use nuts and bolts and washers , that way it is easy to store and transport. it just depends how he molded the rocket to fit on the pack.

I am not familiar with the MoW pack in particular, but I know a lot of people just slide the base of the rocket down into the pack and only gravity holds it in place. Considering that you are unlikely to ever be upside down, the rocket should stay in place.

You could always use some rare earth magnets to hold it in place. You could put one in the base of the rocket and one in the jp where it slides in or put some around the edges. I haven't worked on a MOW jp specifically, but don't magnets fix everything? :)

I would recommend using Rare earth magnets to hold it in place too. One set on the missle bottom and one set in the pack. It holds tight, but you can take it apart for transporting.

I used industrial strength velcro, but found I only needed both parts on the very bottom of the rocket where it attaches. Basically, I have small strips of the "fuzz" on opposite sides of the rocket "post" that serve to fatten it enough that it won't slip, and both sides/parts of the velcro attached where the rocket bottom meets the pack.

I just slide it on and off with a little effort and it is totally secure. I've held it upside down and shook it and it won't fall out. Took five minutes to put it together and I can take the pack apart instantly. Not as elegant as screws or magnets, but was easier for me. I'll PM you a picture tonight if you like, but it should be simple to envision.

what i did with mine is i counter sunk a hole on the under side of the missle then got a bolt put it in the counter sunk area then gorilla glued it to that then drilled a hole so the threaded end could go through then used a wing nut to keep it in place this gives me the freedom to take it off when moving it around.
