Jetpack build...Take 1...

Today was a slow day, so I applied bondo to the sidearm I'm working on and set it aside to dry and air out... Gotta love the smell of Bondo!
With the extra time, I thought I would start trying to knock out some of the jet pack. This build may take awhile as I like to finish stuff before I start something else and I will finish the side arm 1st.

Anywho... here's what I got accomplished today...
Printed out the WOF templates and laid them on the Celtec. Cut out the pieces and mixed up some Plastic Epoxy...

I think the hard part is going to be building the rocket. I guess we will see!:D

Love all your scratch builds so far and the first steps with the jetpack looks really good! Keep up the excellent work!

This is about as far as I got before I realized how far in over my head I was and ebay'd Man of War lol. Keep at it! :D

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the kind works and support! There has been a learning curve, but not too bad. I've been experimenting with how to make the round parts. I think I will tape it together, hot glue the joint, light heat with heat gun to hold shape, and then epoxy to strengthen the joint. I'm open to thoughts or easier methods... :)

Carlos- I got it at Regal Plastics. lpitcher23 here on the boards is in plastic sales and sent me over there. If you don't live in TX, you might check with him as he sometimes has deals for TDH members. He also said Sintra and Celtec are basically the same thing, but Sintra is a "brand name" and Celtec is less expensive. This stuff is pretty easy to work with.

After some thought I decided to redo a couple things. I really want this to turn out nice, so I want to take my time on it and not rush, rush, rush... So here's where I am as of this morning.

I didn't like the way the 1/8" celtec was coming together for the deail pieces. It's just to thick. So I only used it for the main shell. I have found that you can make a relatively sharp bend with the celtec if you heat it and use a ruler or scale to bend with. For all the detail pieces I decided to use some "for sale" signs I picked up for $.98... :D I love cheap build stuff you can make look nice! For the boosters, I used 2" PVC and a 3" PVC coupling for the main rocket's neck. Once I get the main exhaust vent in the bottom, I will start filling with bondo and sand, sand, sand! Let me know what you think.

JangoJack- Adobe. On my printer, I have to uncheck the fit to page box. Then they print perfect.

I got the missile/rocket finshed up today  ! I'm going to use 12 earth magnets to hold it in place, 6 on the pack and 6 on the missile/ rocket. Let me know what yall think.
