Jetpack hooks, etc.
I just read Madmartigan's thread on his hooks used to hold the jet pack on. I'm probably going to be making a jet pack out of sintra so I'm not expecting a lot of weight.
What I'd like to know is: where does the webbing that comes out of the holes in the backpiece get attached to? Can it hold or will it sag? I should expect a bit of stretch/sag, right?
I think this opens up a whole can of worms for me because my girlfriend is making my vest with nylon/sports kind of fabric and she wants to put the opening in the back so I can slip it on like a smock. I suggested a side hole, since the back piece is going on.

Re: Jetpack hooks, etc.
hey bud, i think what you are asking is where to the jet pack straps connect to hold the jet pack onto the backplate? well, the straps really dont connect to the backplate...they are attatched to a harness system that goes underneath the armor vest...ill get you a link to the harnesses i am making so you can see what i am doing for that...:thumbsup

heres the link to some pics of what i have been doing on the harnesses to give you an idea of that works...:thumbsup

Re: Jetpack hooks, etc.
Thanks for the reply, FettDad. I'm aware that the jet pack doesn't attach to the backplate, and I won't have a harness. Essentially I'm asking what people think about me using suspenders instead of a nice, pro quality harness.

Re: Jetpack hooks, etc.
well, the elastic in the suspenders might cause some sagging...you need some kind of polyester shoulder strap to keep that from happening...i thought about using a suspender rig up from Lowe's or something, but was looking at the elastic straps and figured i get some sagging...if you can find an old backpack, and use the shoulder straps from it, that would work better than the elastic i think...if you have suspenders that dont have elastic, that would work too...:thumbsup:cheers

Re: Jetpack hooks, etc.
Hmm.. never thought of backpack straps. Suspenders were the first thing to come to mind because of the clips and the width of the holes in the backplate but I could jimmy them up to some non-stretchy webbing. I think my dad has some seat belt material left over I could use.
Thanks!

seatbelt material is exactly what i use on my harnesses....:thumbsup
