Is the Rocket Pack crucial for 501st acceptance?

I'm getting close to completing my ROTJ Boba Fett and the funds are getting thin. I didnt know how crucial having a jet pack was to be accepted into the 501st. I plan on obtaining one, but it might not be for several more months. I wanted to submit my application in April or May.

I know some of the 501st costume standards list "optional accessories" and I didnt know if the jet pack was considered one of this or if it was absolutely crucial.

I am guessing it is pretty crucial. Not a member of 501st (yet) but think it will be buddy. All the best with them fundings! You will get there, any photos of the "so far"?

Cheers Rob.

Yep, it's required.

In the mean time, get registered on your local Garrison boards and in touch with your Garrison Membership Liason (GML). You may even be able to troop a few informal events with the troopers in your area. Plus it will give you a chance to get to know some members and when it comes time to submitt your application, you already will have a foot in the door.

if you contact the right people you can probably walk away with a pretty decent jet pack kit that you will just have to sand and paint. I would post in the cargo hold that you are looking for a affordable jet pack. Also check out the WOF templates.

As a GML, I wouldn't be able to accept your costume into the 501st until the jet pack is part of your costume. Our garrison would let you troop if no other Boba Fetts were available; as long as it were not an official 501st event.

Well....you could always drop the rangefinder down and say you were piloting Slave I...*grin*

Seriously, the jet pack really does make the outfit. You wouldn't get approved without it, but definitly get in touch with the guys in your soon-to-be garrison; they will be a wealth of help, and might even be able to help you find a jet pack too!

If the 501st accepts all kinds of variants, why not a "Slave 1 Pilot" variant... without the jet pack! :) He wasn't wearing it in the shots where he's in the cockpit of the Slave 1 following the Millenium Falcon.

Hope this helps! :)

(P.S. I'm with ya man! the Jet Pack is a pricey piece!)

At one point it was decided that it wasn't acceptable. *shrugs*. That's all there is to it!
Fair enough I suppose!
"We gotsta have some sort of law!" - Billy Breckinridge (Jason Priestley) in Tombstone.

Does that extend to Jango too? Is it required for Jango to have a JP? I've yet to see anyone tackle a costume with the chest pieces kicked in (courtesy of the dropkick from Obi Wan) or the "not the same as Boba" dent either.

P.S. Suppose we compromise.... in order for there to be a Slave 1 Pilot variant.... you need to have the whole Slave 1 costume! ;)

........ or at least the seat

On the bright side.... at conventions, you'd be comfortable, sitting the whole time! lol
